Wait, they made an entire TV series about that movie where Tom Cruise plays a sports agent?

 

Some kind of series about agents ala the way Mad Men was about ad men could be pretty good.

 

Seems strange to remember but this show was actually such a big deal at one point that it got a movie adaptation.

I should watch Ringmaster, the very notion there's a movie based on a talkshow is so whacked.

Judge Jerry Spring. Lone justice.

 

I'm actually looking forward to the new show. One thing that's interesting is that the judges on the faux-court tv shows usually have an actual background as a judge, but Jerry doesn't. He's going to be the judge, but his authority will come from his wit and wisdom, not from just from his robe. It's going to be an interesting fit, though. Even though he has a reputation as being sleazy, even though his show is sleazy, he is actually a very intelligent and empathetic man, as you can see in the clip below. I can't see him really attacking the two parties in the lawsuit the way Judge Judy does. I hope it works because I would hate to see Jerry end his career with a failure; he doesn't deserve that. The new show might not work, but people have been underestimating Jerry his entire career. Most people don't even know that he hosted the great GSN show Baggage while he was also hosting his own show during its historic run.


This is surprisingly moving IMO

 

this reminds me quite a lot of Arrested Development Mock Trial With J. Reinhold.

 

Now I want to see a Jeremy Kyle court show. Imagine Jezza in that wig.

 

Shocked this was still being made. Shocked it is going to be re-branded and there'll be a court show with fist fights breaking out.

From what I've heard about the (unsurprising) culture of the show and similar programs, good riddance.
