The Lando/Vader agreement

    what do you think was their original agreement/deal? it obviously didn't include Leia & Chewie staying on Bespin, or giving Han to Boba Fett. was it just to use them to get Luke, and then let them go? thoughts?

    Boba Fett tracked the Millenium Falcon to Bespin, he made it to Lando Calrissian first. Fett informed Vader that Solo, Leia, and the Wookie were coming to Cloud City. Darth Vader made a deal with Lando that if he lets him take Han Solo, Leia, and the Wookie into custody, he will rid Bespin of any Imperial problems, ever.

    The original agreement between Lando and Vader was to use Han, Leia, and Chewie as bait to capture Luke. If Lando did not agree to this then Cloud City would have been put under Imperial control. Vader then altered the agreement and Han was to be given to Fett to hand over to Jabba and Leia and Chewie would never again leave the city. Vader altered the agreement once again and Leia and Chewie were to be taken as prisoners under Imperial custody.

    Lando was Baron Administrator to a mining facility that was ILLEGAL. A facility in Imperial space that was producing vast quantities of "Tabina gas" that was used by customers that didn't want their actions or businesses monitored by Imperial commerce.

    Although Lando didn't provide for the Rebels, their were varied interests that needed that gas to maintain their own interests, and as such not have to pay tribute, or reveal their activities to the Empire.

    Lando was taken by surprise when Imperial forces showed up on his door step. Its the equalivant to a drug bust, whereas the perp would be allowed to A. Remain free, and B. Continue his operation without the cops busting it wide open providing the perp cooperated with the authorities.

    Ergo, Lando made a deal with the devil to allow himself to con his old friend into custody for the interests of keeping his mining operation.

    But as you all know, that "deal got worse all the time..."
