    -En Route to Toola

The pirate stood in awe of the creatures that he now faced. They were bright and his mind recalled that these were the angels that were so often talked about, mostly by old timers in cantinas. He admired them for seconds more before a beeping sound in the cockpit turned his attention back to the current situation. The computer was designed to alert him when the hyperdrive had been idle for more than a couple of minutes.

Laying the knife down beside him, Samuel, still focused on the creatures outside the viewport, his eyes scanning their numbers. Despite how magnificent they were, Samuel did have some place to be and after he silenced the alarm, he began to smile to himself. The pirate had been ready to kill, yet was confronted with the essence of beauty and life instead. The irnoy and coincidence.

"I'm sorry, but you guys gotta move out." Samuel sighed as he set the ship back on its course and attempted to start the hyperspace drive back up. How they had stopped it in the first place, and caused interference with the ship's other equipment, Samuel didn't know. He hadn't encountered the "Angels" before, so he hoped that all the things wrong, could be set right again. And rather quickly, because despite him finding these, he assumed, peaceful entities, Samuel couldn't shake the enigmatic feeling that he got from them.

"C'mon." Samuel Lord spoke softly to the engines, rhythmically rapping his fingers on the control panel, along with the music, which he hadn't gotten around to cutting off yet.

Location: Outside a small Condo on Coruscant

Dacen watched with interest as the clones assembled, stared at him, then continued their mission which at the moment was getting the speeder ready to go. As the clones were getting in Sgt. Harros opened the door and stepped in. Dacen then followed him into speeder noting the quickness and efficiency of the clones. They seemed to live only for the mission and it dominated their entire person and gave them an aura that demanded respect. Also based on the fluidity of their motion, and the utmost respect this Mandolorian had for the clones they looked like a force to be reckoned with. Then after buckling up and checking his luggage

"Alright Sgt. lets get going. From what I remember Jedi don't like being kept waiting."

    IC as Zander Kathor
    The Rampart, Training Room

Zander ducked below the slashing blade, wincing slightly as JT's lightsaber passed within inches of his horns. Beads of sweat formed on the Jedi Knight's forehead, causing him to blink as they rolled into his eyes. He swung at the droids legs, the saber slicing air as the droid jumped to avoid his attack. The Zabrak rolled to the side, straightening in time to parry the training droid's thrust towards his head. Grunting, he pushed against the other saber, sparks emitting from the point where the blades met. Without warning, he pulled his blade away, spinning to the right to avoid the flailing saber. Taking advantage of JT's loss of balance, he sliced at the droid's torso, hearing a sizzle as the powered-down blade made contact with the metal plate.

A beep from the referee droid signaled the end of the bout. Zander switched off his lightsaber, clipping it onto his belt. Smiling slightly, he thanked the referee droid, pulling on his robe before turning to JT.

"Good match there. You almost had me with the reverse jab you pulled." He ran his hand through his horns, making sure they were still intact.

Catching the gesture, JT let out the droid equivalent of a chuckle. "Don't worry Master Kathor, I always take great care not to damage your horns in any way. I wouldn't want to think of what you'd do to me if I did."

Grinning, Zander smacked the droid's shoulder lightly. "Oh you'd regret it. And how many times do I have to tell you, Zander, not Master Kathor."

"I can't help it Master Kathor, it's the protocol that you installed in me." chirped the droid. "The owner has to be respected, and protocol states that..."

Zander rolled his eyes good-naturedly, waving his hand to stop the droid, knowing that he would go on forever if he didn't. He mentally reminded himself to get a better protocol software when he had the time. Upon informing him that he'd be at the bridge, the Jedi dismissed JT. The turbolift doors slid open, and Zander stepped in, gulping down some water from his canteen as the carriage sped upwards. He let his thoughts flow, feeling the Force swirl around him.

He had been assigned to the Rampart six months ago, and sent to the Outer Rim world of Taris. A crucial Republic shipyard was based on the planet, and his task was to protect it. His previous mission, the Battle of Praesitlyn had been a grueling one, and the Council felt that sending Zander here would help him recharge. It was quiet, no disturbances since his arrival. He was slightly surprised that the Separatists had not yet launched a campaign on Taris, as destruction of the shipyard would greatly cripple the Republic war effort.

"It's just as well that they didn't. Our forces are already stretched so thin that the next battle could well be our last. Moreover, we're so far out that any reinforcements would take close to a week to arrive. With the meager amount of troops stationed here, a light push would be enough to overwhelm us."

A ping indicated that he had reached the command area. He strode out, straightening his attire as he approached the console. Commander Tyris was deep in conversation with one of the senior officers. Zander could sense the worry radiating off them. As he drew closer, the two men turned, saluting as they recognized the Jedi. Zander nodded, returning the salute.

"General Kathor. Our scanners have just picked up a fleet of ships exiting hyperspace at the edge of Tarisian space. My men identified them as Separatist ships. Their numbers are immense General, far more than we are able to take on ourselves. Fortunately, a Republic fleet had been sent to resolve a border dispute three systems from here. The commanding officers are Jedi General Lon Ka'Jaire and Clone Commander Rizon. Requesting permission to contact them for aid General."

Studying the holographic displays intently, Zander was struck by the vast amount of Separatist ships converging on their location. In the six months that he worked with Commander Tyris,

IC: Admiral ACCDThe Cyclops, near/ above Taris Shipyards

If the droid could have, a wide smile would have formed over his face, as he saw the measly Shipyard floating around being defended by a handful petty Capital Ships, far from what could have matched the might of his 5 Providence class ships fleet. He saw a couple of light cruisers, and a Victory class Star Destroyer (witch could prese3nt a few problems) but if he hurried up now, he could blow the Ship Yard out of the space before the Republic had enough time to wipe its nose. He was right above all of them, and would not like to see this opportunity go to waste

?Zzzzz?Radiance and Gram, move forward towards the Taris Shipyard, put your shields on full power, and release all fighters after telling them to scramble and beat down any fighter threats. You will be our shield for our mission. Gladius and Super Ranchor merely follow The Cyclops. Stay behind and above the Gram and Radiance. Put all power to your turbolasers, Send every fighter towards those Capital ships. Set your sights towards the Star Destroyer. Now fire?Zzzz!? ACCD commanded, feeling something akin to passion in his voice synthesizer .

ACCD watched gleefully as The Cyclops battery of attacks fell in between the open space of the defending ships, downwards toward the Ship Yards, while the Gladius and Ranchor fired upon the Star Destroyer below them. But ACCD knew anything could still go wrong, but hoped in a few moments, hoped to see a few things go right.

    IC Hylas Errias

SBI Executive Offices, Senate Building, Coruscant

Hylas tried his best to maintain his cool and calm his distaste at the entire situation playing out in front of him. While the mission more than interested him - he was less than eager to be accompanied by some ex-con, shape-shifting creature, and also slightly concerned at the fact that he was being asked to take on a field mission. It had been literally years since he had been asked to take on an assignment that called for anything other than strict business.

The entire situation made him slightly uneasy because either this mission was incredibly important for some unknown reason, or there was some underhanded plan to harm him. Either way - Hylas was not about to turn it down. He was far more scared of complacency than of being hurt or even killed.

Hylas switched off glances between Tresh and "Burk", settling his eyes on the Kitonak who asked, "Anything else you wanna know?". Though it was probably off-color, Hylas half-jestingly asked, "Sanza actually has the ability to represent itself in the Senate? How entertaining. Anyway - when do we start? And do I get a lightsaber?" He truly hoped to be given a lightsaber - the weapons had always fascinated him, but he had always been wary of handling them. Tresh seemed to be having another coughing fit before he got a chance to vocalize any response to Hylas' question. For a split second Hylas glanced back at Burk. The creature's ability to transform was uncanny. He looked like a Clawdite, but it was an incredible rarity for that species to be able to be able to transform beyond shapes that were similar to their own size - and this one seemed to have no issue. One of Hylas' dearest, and really, one of his only friends since his time on Coruscant was secrectly a Shi'ido - and this made Hylas have a slight soft-spot for the alien, but also question what exactly, or even who, this Burk actually was...

A-29, clad in red-striped ARC trooper armor, stood at the landing pad of the Jedi Temple awaiting a speeder. His job was to get a certain Dacen Mano and Sgt. Harros into the Jedi Temple to talk with his commanders. A-29 didn't particulary like the idea of standing around while his other Alpha brothers, the first hundred Advanced Recon Commandos, were being killed on the front lines. Hopefully whatever the deal was with this Dacen and Sgt. Harros would prove to be his ticket back into the front lines.

Every day A-29 checked the casualty rate on the Alpha-class ARC's and out of the first one hundred, fifteen were killed just at the Battle of Kamino which was their first true mission. Since then another thirty-nine had been killed and fourteen critically wounded. Another eight had been "discharged" for unknown reasons. The truth was that since the ARC troopers were training by Jango Fett himself and had individual thoughts and ideas some had deserted the war. Frankly it didn't sound like such a horrible thing. Clone troopers didn't have citizenship, a vote, a say in anything. They were fighting for a govermnent, for a people who just thought they were like droids. Completely loyal, faceless, unhuman soldiers created for war and war only. However that was quite untrue. Kad, as he called himself, knew many different faces and names in the GAR clone ranks. His name, he had received from Jango Fett himself. It meant "saber" or "sword" in Mando'a which Jango had taught them to speak. Kad had fought Jango in a vibrosword duel and Jango gave Kad a scar on his right eye.

Jango said he had been proud of Kad for his neverending want to defeat his mentor. Even though Kad lost he still got a name and a face. One of the best things a trooper could get in this hell-forsaken war.

Suddenly A-29 received an update in his HUD that the speeder would be arriving shortly. He stood up straight and tall and precise, his dual customized DC-15 blaster pistols hanging on each side of his kama or his "skirt" the raw cannon fodder called them.

The speeder touched down and A-29 walked over to greet them. There was two men and he could tell one was Mandalorian, maybe even on the trainers that taught the other special operations forces the Republic Commandos. The other man was casual but Kad thought, Spec Ops maybe? Then he saw a squad of clone troopers which were identified as "Werda Squad" on his HeadsUpDisplay.

"Greetings Dacen Mano and Sgt. Harros. Welcome to the Jedi Council. I hear to receive you and take you to my commanders. My designations is Alpha-29 but you may call be KAD if you want," the ARC said finally glad to actually do something or talk with someone.

    En Route to Toola

A loud bang rattled the ship, followed by another. More of the creatures? One couldn't be certain. The gages on the ship were fluctuating between minimal and optimal, and then Samuel could finally see what was happening: white bursts of energy were being emitted from the chests of the angels, each one hitting the hull of the ship and causing the plating to spark as vital circuitry was close to being damaged.

But even in all the spacer tales Samuel had heard, not once did they hear of angels attacking ships. Then, and only then, he could hear what it was that may have caused it.

As the ship had been placed on standby, the rattling of the hyperdrive had startled some of the creatures near the rear of the ship. Their interest in the vessel, while merely curiosity, turned out to lead them into a panicked frenzy. The strange sound had always startled them, perhaps after being fired upon by some other pirates when this occurred, and the sound causing them to fear it gave a conditioned response: they were going to defend themselves...

... and the ship was not able to budge!

The Mandalorian sergeant shook his head and chuckled as the speeder lifted off and hurtled into the busy traffic of Coruscant's middle districts. ?No, no they don't. And unfortunately for us ba'buir, the progress of our mission requires the value of time. Something we ain't got right now.? Harros replied, reaching into a belt pouch on his purple-tinted Mandalorian armor and procuring a small holodisc.

?Don't worry about anyone seeing in this junker either, we've got the windows darkened.? The sergeant explained before activating the disc. A holo of a cloaked figure who looked to be triple-jointed by the way it was standing, as well as a wide beaklike nose and beady eyes. When it spoke, it was as if she hadn't practiced her Basic in some time.

?Dacen Mano, former Padawan of Ralek Narren, Mi Vaay is convinced that the Force has drawn you to us for this particular mission.? The female Jedi spoke, this likely pre-recorded holo giving way to its true nature as an impromptu briefing. She seemed to be reluctant to speak to a former member of the Jedi Order, but Mano's skills would be useful on the type of mission they were headed on. She continued to speak.

?Sergeant Harros will brief you on the specifics of the mission, but Mi Vaay was confused to how she should address the former Padawan of a close friend. The clones who accompany you will likely refer to you as 'commander' which Mi Vaay has accepted for your rank on such a mission. The Republic forces near Geonosis have received a transmission from Typtus, a prominent Geonosian aristocrat who offers us the destruction of one of the main hives which has been producing many of the battle droids we face in battle. Needless to say, the Republic has accepted this offer in exchange for military aid, which we have desperately needed in the Outer Rim Territories.?

The holo of the figure bowed as it began to fade. ?May the Force be with you, Dacen Mano... make your late Master proud.?

The entire time, the Mando sergeant seemed a bit put off by hearing the personalized message as he shut it off and tossed the device to Dacen. ?A bit odd that one, but no need to worry about Master Vaay, she's just one of a few Jedi Watchmen who are prepared to deal with the less scrutable areas of this war. Like us,
ba'buir.? Harros chuckled and continued to speak.

?We're headed to Geonosis if you weren't paying attention, and its our job to set det-charges in the droid foundries themselves. Now this isn't gonna be easy because you can bet there'll be 'tinnies' galore not to mention loyal Sep bugs crawling all over the damn hive. "Late Master"

Those two words made Dacen cringe, even after he had left the order Dacen still had a soft spot for the man who taught him so much. His first thought was to ask the Sgt. how his masters death had come but it was a dumb question as the Sgt. probably had no idea who his master was. That was a question best saved for Mi Vaay.

Dacen's thoughts then turned to his master's lightsaber which he had been gifted with. His first thought had been to save the lightsaber and preserve it. That seemed dumb to Dacen though as it could be a useful tool in the missions ahead if he could get the feel for it again. Also he would like to keep it on his person as a personal reminder of what could have been and what his life turned out to be.

After his personal reflection Dacen began thinking about the mission. It seemed very straight foward go from point A got to point B plant the explosives and run to point C for evac.

"...and be back in time for dinner,?

as Harros had put it. Although in order to get from place to place there would be a lot of fighting as Harros had mentioned their would be many Separatist Loyalists there, plus a lot of Mercenaries to. It was going to difficult but it was a mission that him, Werda Squad, and this interesting Mandalorian Harros were all well suited for.

As Dacen stepped out of the Speeder at the GAR Intel HQ they were greeted by a clone and by the look of him one of the ARC Trooper's. Dacen made a move to step foward but the Mandalorian and his clones stepped in front of him, blocking his path. Since Dacen did not have a comlink in tune with the frequency of the clones yet he could not hear the conversation but from the body language of the Squad they were messing with this ARC trooper giving him the same cocky crap they gave him, but the conversation had no bearing on Dacen, so he waited till Harros was finished, tapped him on the shoulder and said,

"I thought time was of the essence, when do we get going to Geonosis?"

"Well thanks for the warm-welcome back. Don't worry, I'm only here to ensure you arrived. I don't know why the Jedi have me here on this quiet, peaceful world so you Republic Commando boys can shove any opinions about me or my own vode, you know where. Any ARC trooper is worth an entire squad of you guys, proven. They just ordered me to come out here and make sure that you guys got here...safe," Kad said distastefully over the Clone comm.

The ARC removed his helmet so the Sergeant and the other man could hear and put it under his shoulder showing his beaten and scarred face.

"Now you can say whatever you want to me but when I have that helmet on soldiers, Sergeant...I am a Captain of the Grand Army of the Republic and I better get some respect."

ARC-29 was mad but it wasn't a change. He got mad, clones got mad, all people got mad. It was just another thing that was normal in some lives though not many clones would have the oppurtunity to experience. Regular troopers were all about loyalty to the Republic, and following orders. Republic Commandos were more with their Mandoa heritage and with their training sergeants. ARC's were more the rebellious, free-thinking reincarnates of Jango Fett himself. So the only question was...which was a better soldier. One who followed orders to the book or ones that improvised to save lives or provide important information on a target. The clone ranks were differentiated maybe even segragated...Regardless Kad would always follow orders but maybe with just some slight loopholes and improvisation.

    Okay! Back to the game...

    Coruscant, GAR Intel HQ

Polander turned his head in his helmet towards Dacen, nodding a moment before ushering him past the four black-armored clones and the solitary Alpha ARC Kad. The entire time the Mandalorian training sergeant wondered how the ARC had gotten such a nickname, and wondered if he could on day slide a kad from belly to throat on the Alpha like gutting a fish. He smirked at his thought, but it was hidden behind his helmet.

?Let the boys fight it out, unlike other Commandos, they're outside the limits of the chain-of-command. Unless you're a Jedi, or me, they aren't gonna listen worth a lick.? Harros smirked and yelled back to the clones, all five of them.

    ?Oi, play nice
Werda, we don't want the Kaminoans to alter any more of Fett's DNA to make another Alpha if you happened to rip that one up...? And in silent consolation, the four stealth troopers nodded, watching their sergeant and Dacen walk into the headquarters building.

    ^ ^ ^ ^ ^

To be honest, the Commandos weren't impressed with the ARC. They'd seen any of them in action, many times without them knowing, and they found their combat abilities impressive, but they could always use a slap across the bucket to fix their attitude problem. Maybe
Werda would get a chance to do that. Maybe.

    ?Listen up
dar'manda,? One of the troopers spoke up, the center of Kad's HUD would designate this trooper as the leader of Werda Squad, Mirshe, and he had used the most obscene term for the ARC trooper, further showing that no matter how good he was, or what Rank he held, to these clones, he wasn't a Mando. And never would be. ?You'll get respect when you earn it, and you sure as osik aren't earning any points by acting Jango in front of us. We aren't impressed like the Jedi are to see that you can hold two blasters at once.?

The other three Commandos moved to the sides of their leader, and clicked the back of their teeth to open their private comm channel. ?Mirshe, you went pretty far callin' him
dar'manda. You know what Sarge would do if he found out?? Vin spoke up, the visual the others got on their HUD was that of him inspecting his Deecee.

?He deserved it. Nevermind that, we've gotta get the ship prepped. Four-four, take the Alpha to the landing platform and see if our ship is ready,? Mirshe explained over the private channel, the four Commandos staying silent as they eyed the scarred ARC. Each of them thought something different, and with a silent nod, Four-four patted the ARC and brushed past him.

?You'd better see if that ship of ours needs a good scrubbing,
vod'ika. We in Werda don't like to ride in dirty ships with dirty Alphas.? Mirshe chuckled, and the other two clones chuckled along with him. Four-four tugged on Kad's arm, urging him to follow him, slipping off his helmet to give him a stern glare. His face was unaltered and bore no difference from that of Jango...

... aside from the long and horrid gash across his throat.

"I have one and only one thing to say. Outside of combat then we can all be I hate you or ARC's stink or whatever. While in combat if we're going to get the job done we're going to have to get along. Agreed?" Kad said nodding at Four-Four and his comrades.

The Clone Commandos stared blankly at Kad not saying anything which Kad took as a maybe sort of answer. He didn't care.

Grabbing one of his pistols, a reflex of danger, Samuel raised it as he continue to press certain buttons. There was always a peaceful way to solve things. Well, he thought, not always, but in this case he really did feel bad about attacking these creatures, if it came to that. However, his ship wasn't in the best of shape and he would not hesitate to use lethal force if that was the only way he was getting to Toola.

"More damage costs." He grumbled as he began to transmit his voice throughout the ship and around it. Hopefully, these creatures would heed his words and clear way of his ship.

"Stop! My name is Samuel Lord and I am trying to get to Toola. I am not trying to hurt you, there's been a misunderstanding. If you continue to attack my ship, I must defend myself." He spoke clear, but rushed and organized it so that the com would continue to play his message while he went to get dressed in his space suit. If push came to shove and they didn't let off the attack, Samuel would have to handle this "old style", a word that a former colleague had used when refering to shootouts.

However, as he geared up, Samuel began to weigh his chances of winning. And, it may be because he was nervous, but the didn't look well.

The Jedi Knight stood before the communications array, waiting with increasing impatience for the reply from the other ship. Reaching into the Force, he searched for the presence of the fellow Jedi, at the same time calming himself down. The lack of disturbance indicated that Master Ka?Jaire had not run into trouble, but what then could be the reason for his non-response? It was unsettling. He prodded lightly through the Force, hoping to prompt some form of reaction from the Bothan Jedi.

Loud metallic footsteps rang across the bridge, urgency evident in its gait. Zander looked up, only to find himself almost pummelled into by a clone lieutenant. He reached up, grabbing the trooper?s shoulder to steady him. ?Whoa there. Calm down.?

The clone straightened awkwardly, his expression unreadable behind the dark T-shaped visor. He seemed almost embarrassed, but Zander couldn?t tell. The moment passed, and the clone looked to be no different from his brothers: serious and unshakable, a symbol of conformity.

?My apologies General Kathor. I was sent by Commander Tyris to inform you that the Tarisian government has encountered difficulties in sending up aid. It appears that their ships have been sabotaged, and it will take some time to fix the damage. The Separatist fleet have begun their assault. There are five capital ships. Two of the capital ships are attacking the VSD Triumph, while two others are heading towards the shipyards. They have released their fighters. Our squadrons are prepped and ready to go at your command General.?

The Jedi General paced the bridge, disturbed by the news of the sabotage. The Rampart had been monitoring all traffic in and out of the planet, so it was inconceivable that something had slipped past their scanners. Moreover, the Tarisian government had been cracking down hard on all suspicious activity, not to mention their security forces were top-class. Without the reinforcements, winning this battle would be almost impossible. He rubbed his head absentmindedly, attempting to formulate a plan. Military strategy was never his best class in the Temple. Sithspit! Where?s Lon when I need him? Letting out a hiss of frustration, the Zabrak Jedi laid out his plans.

?Send a squadron of engineers down to the surface to assist with the repairs. Deploy all squadrons. Send one squadron to defend the shipyard, and one squadron per capital ship to engage the ships, focus on bringing down the shields, followed by the guns. Rest of them counter the fighter threats. Once the shields are down, bombard the capital ships with the cruisers. Bring the Deltron to the fore to support the Triumph. Move the Rampart and the Prolieum to intercept the two heading for the shipyards. Keep a distance from the capital ships, and pump the torpedoes into them.?

?Yes General.? The lieutenant hurried off, leaving the Jedi to stare at the holographic displays. The Providence-class destroyers loomed large, casting an ominous shadow. The Force help him if he was wrong.
