I look at this is definitive proof that there's no God. Shows like Firefly and Sarah Conner Chronicles get cancelled, never really completed, but the Avatar movie gets a sequel? Truly, we live in an evil, evil world.

It's possible that we will see some old faces. After all, King Bumi survived the hundred years that Aang was in the iceburg.

I think the three most likely faces will be either Toh, Zuko, or Kitara

I suspect there will be a Spirit World grown up Aang talking to Korra, who will no doubt be the next Avatar in the cycle.

Korra sounds very much like a Water tribe name. If it is the next Avatar, I'm kind of hoping it's not Aang and Katara's son/daughter or something, I don't like that idea.

I wonder if she even could be the Avatar if she is Aang's daughter. The previous series seemed to suggest that the next Avatar is born after the previous Avatar's death. So does the rebirth process occur at birth or conception then?

Maybe it's not a sequel, but a prequel?

Here's official confirmation of this new series:

Also an interview from the creators about the new show:

I'm SO EXCITED!! It seems like a slightly darker and more mature storyline than the Original series. Hopefully, it's able to keep the same level of quality that the original had. This is a nice bit of "Avatar"-related good news in light of M. Night Shyamalan's recent epic FAILURE!

I'm liking what I'm hearing from those likes. I'm kind of curious about this "Republic City" though. I was always under the impression that Ba Sing Se was the largest city in the world. I wonder what nation it is in.

I thought they said Republic City was a blend of all the benders.

Good to have some news! Aang and Katara's son is named Tenzin? Sounds more like a Fire Nation name to me. That shot of Korra overlooking the city looks great! I hope this 'rebellious' teenager won't be a sassy brat though, like a waterbender version of Toph. Which, I'm kind of wondering just what new things they could do with a waterbender character, after all we've seen of Katara..

Seems to me that this series is looking to only be a single season and it will essentially be the Book of Air to Aang's Books of Water, Earth and Fire since Korra already mastered Water, Earth and Fire and is learning the last element. So what's new here is going to have to be her having difficulty learning to master Airbending.

So far Nick has confirmed that it will only be 12 episodes.

Which does give me hope, since TLA was only supposed to be 12 episodes and look how that turned out. :p

I'm really intrigued by the anti-bending/anti-avatar movement that is supposed to be going on.
