The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring --- RPG

The Story
In ancient times the Rings of Power were crafted by the Elven-smiths, and Sauron, the Dark Lord, forged the One Ring, filling it with his own power so that he could rule all others. But the One Ring was taken from him, and though he sought it throughout Middle-earth, it remained lost to him. After many ages it fell into the hands of Bilbo Baggins, as told in The Hobbit. In a sleepy village in the Shire, young Frodo Baggins finds himself faced with an immense task, as his elderly cousin Bilbo entrusts the Ring to his care. Frodo must leave his home and make a perilous journey across Middle-earth to the Cracks of Doom, there to destroy the Ring and foil the Dark Lord in his evil purpose.

The Game
Basically, you play out the three books/movies over the course of the 3 RPGs. The good guys fight the bad guys and vice-versa. You journey through Middle-Earth. The way I see it, we can do 1 chapter per week. I'll post the Chapter and a summary, and then we'll play out the events.

Non-player characters. Basically, they're just there. The GM of the RPG takes care of them and any actions required by them.

One question:

Will it follow the same exact storyline as the books or movies?

 

Not exactly, I suppose. But it will contain the same main events, characters, and outline as the story.

It will be a lot easier to let the forces of evil be NPCs, due to their vast amounts and minor rolls. If more people want to join, I might add a Hobbit or two. Once we get to The Two Towers, I will add Theoden and whomever else seems necessary.

Gimli certainly kicks some butt on the video games. I got back into playing the Two Towers one Xbox, and he cuts a path right through the sea of orcs.
