The Lost Brother - Star Wars Fan Film

After weeks of planning - we finally got down to filming the opening scene today.

It has Vader, I'm sold.
I like the washed out look.

 

Great looking Vader, a friend of mine built a BOBA FETT suit except for the helmet. He is working on a Vader armor which looks awesome, I was wondering where can we buy a Darth Vader suit?

 

Aren't you a little short to be a Vader?

Washed out look is good, though is that due to colour grading being applied or incorrect white balance (or was the location simply washed out looking on the day)?

I've seen FFs never go past the first day of filming, so now that you've posted this be sure to see it to the end.

 

It's a mixture of all three, actually.
I've experimented with the brightness, contrast, gamma and color tints in an attempt to color correct the image. I haven't altered the white balance at all. I don't even know how to!
So, perhaps you can shed some light on this?
And the forest that we shot the scene in was "bleak" and "washed out" on the day, but I think the color grading is the main factor... I hope.

You needn't worry -- this one will see its end...

 

Question: How tall is the actor in the Vader suit? He looks a bit short to be Vader, but it could also be me.

I like the colors in the preview shots. I wonder what the end product will be, having Vader in it also means it better be darn good! (as far as that's possible on a Fan Film budget).

 

Vader is 5'11.
It's not ideal, but there aren't many 6'7 monsters walking this Earth, are there? So we'll just have to make do.
And writing Vader is actually quite difficult, but I have recorded his voice over and he looks and sounds the part. I think you might be impressed.
But work still has to be done, nonetheless. All in all, I have spent over £2,500 to budget this film.

So, we have some great equipment to work with, but now it's all going to be determined by execution.
I'm confident.

 

i hope vader has some awesome fight scenes in this.

Ur project seems interesting. u got me interested.

So stop trying to get already feedback about it. u showed off frames, u showed off a teaser, that s enough.

Please dont explain why dark vader is that tall or how u calibrated the camera, etc...

or you loose me as a spectator...

Yeah - as I mentioned above, this is the camera I'm using:

Shoots in high-definition, and I wouldn't swap it for anything else.

 

Hm... interesting... will keep an eye out for this.

However, I'm surprised nobody's mentioned the cliche-inducing choice of location (forest...)
