With the reforms and upgrades to the LucasForum Projects forum now in full swing, it gives us great pleasure to announce the much-anticipated LucasFilm Forum Banner contest!

We are taking submissions for the LFP banner from now until Friday, Jan 31, 2003. We're opening the contest up to anyone and everyone.

There will be just ONE winner, chosen by the JC admins / Carter-TFN & jp-30. The banner which best captures the scope of the forum will likely win , so don't make a banner that only features Indy for example.

The winning theme will be applied to the LFP forum until such time down the track as it is deemed necessary to change or update.

You should use this thread for advice or suggestions; JC Banner Makers Thread.

Final entries should be sent to jp-30 (PM him for details), or posted in this thread.

So here are the specs:

[ul][li]Main banner image (foreground) - 764 x 110[/li]
[li]Main Background image - 764 x 110 [/li]
[li]Curve image - 69 x 69 [/li]
[li]Side Bar image - 32 x 465[/li]
[li]Post Reply image - 437 x 88[/li]
[li]Left and Right adholders - 74 x 58[/li][/ul]

Please post your banner entries as one image or as separate elements (see below):

Only one banner submission per user, please. The winner gets VIPship (red colours only) plus a custom "LFP Banner Designer" title, plus [hl=royalblue]Carter-TFN[/hl] has upped the ante by donating a Celebration II program, and [hl=indigo]jp-30[/hl] has also added the 4 Ltd. Edition Cover AOTC Soundtrack CDs into the prize pool, making this a banner worth pulling out all the stops for. :D
[image=http://www.theforce.net/profiles/carter/c2_program.jpg]. [image=http://www.hansen.net.nz/starwars/aotc-cds.jpg]

[blockquote]
There are a lot of resources you can use in this LucasForum Projects thread; [link=http://boards.theforce.net/message.asp?topic=9524870]LucasFilm Projects resource thread[/link]
Also, some of you may wish to utilise the classic Indy / Howard font which can be found here; [link=http://www.theindyexperience.com/fonts.shtml] Safari and Venture Font is what you're after.[/link]

Those unfamiliar with the Forum are encouraged to take a look around to get a feel for the place. But a summary of what would be considered appropriate are;
Most Relevant - Lucas written or directed non-SW movies, & ILM;
[ul][li]George Lucas[/li]
[li]Indiana Jones, and imagery from the films / TV series[/li]
[li]THX-1138[/li]
[li]American Graffiti[/li]
[li]Willow[/li]
[li]ILM[/li][/ul]
Secondary Importance - LucasFilm Releases with minimal George Lucas input
[ul]
[li]Radioland Murders [/li]
[li]The Land Before Time[/li]
[li] Labyrinth[/li]
[li]Howard the Duck [/li]
[/ul]etc...

See [link=http://boards.theforce.net/message.asp?topic=9388574]this thread[/link] for more on these categories and the importance placed on them within LucasFilm Projects discussion.

If including imagery from any of the ILM movie contributions that are not released on LucasFilm, try and get the notion of the FX themselves across

If anyone wants to use this, they're welcome to. You don't have to of course... just something I made that may be useful to some designers.

[image=http://www.hansen.net.nz/starwars/lucasfilmprojects-title.jpg]

It's here, much larger for resizing down, as a layered photoshop .psd file (which can also be opened by Paint Shop Pro;

lucasfilmprojects-title.psd (right-click -> "save target as")

Just a little heads-up.

If you're using this Forum Title graphic, grab the fonts (linked in the opening post of this thread), and change Jedicouncil.net to theforce.net.

[face_blush]

Thanks!

It should reflect the scope of the forum.

Star Wars topics aren't generally allowed to be discussed - although ILM Effects in those movies is on-topic.

So if you must include SW imagery, make it clear the component represents the Special Effects of ILM, if you get my drift (the same as any other ILM imagery you want to include that is not a LucasFilm release (ET, Jurassic Park, Back to the Future etc)...

I haven't made a banner before so I thought I'd give this a try. I'm not that happy with it, but I'll toss it in anyway. I haven't gotten to the ad holders or post reply banner yet. My Banner.

I'm disgusted with the lack of American Graffiti in those banners. Except for yours, Mom. :D

I've completely started reworking my banner. It now has a very high American Graffiti quotient. 8-}. I've added ad holders, but still no "post reply" image.

Good work so far, everybody. As far as I'm concerned any one of these would work just fine so don't feel bad if you don't win, they all look great. I only wish I knew how to use PhotoShop myself. [face_blush]

I'd just like to say that you don't have to change anything for me, cause I've got nothing to do with that forum. :p

Actually, they're all put together darn well. You people are amazing. :D
