Have these films given Lucas something to aim for?

Judging by that footage shown with Hayden, it looks that way.

I really don't think George would stoop to the lowly level of the "trendy" effects found in those movies....

It's funny that one of those films is supposed to be set in the real world, but the stunts are more unrealistic than those in TPM.

The really interesting thing about these effects is that they are a double-edged sword. The Matrix and Crouching Tiger, I think, stunned most of us with their intensity and beauty. In other situations - Charlie's Angels and Shrek - the effects are actually quite funny to watch. That is the purpose: humor. However, when it comes to the Mummy Returns (where, in my opinion, the Matrix Effect is simply ripped off) the effects look cheap, goofy, and ruin otherwise somewhat interesting action scenes. It's a cryin' shame!

Sithman, I meant that the slow motion/matrix type effect was good.

Ah, i see. Er, but do you really want that in Star Wars? It's too, um, non-StarWarsie. :D If you take my meaning.

I know, but the footage of Hayden got me thinking about it.

It really makes me thinks of Matrix and C.A.

CTHD was a very beautiful film so I'm hoping that ep.II will resemble it. But I don't think GL has seen any of these movies and said: Cool I'm gonna do that in ep.II.

I certainly hope that GL does't look at those movies for inspiration...

The only films GL needs to
    look at for inspiration are
the other four star wars films!!

I don't want star wars to resemble
    anything but star wars(especially
    the matrix and charlie's angels!!)

If GL uses any of that "-------- Time" garbage in either of the remaining prequels I swear to God I'll walk out of the movie.

Talk about your gimmicks that have worn out their welcomes...

EDIT: 24 hour spank for swearing.

I don't think we have to worry about Lucas employing new techniques that are currently in vogue at the moment. He has said (for the life of me I can't find the exact quote right now) that he is shooting these films [PT] so they remain consistent, when watching through EPI to EPVI. So I think it is safe to assume we won't be seeing any dramatic stylistic changes that would have an adverse effect when watching the saga from start to finish.

I agree that it belongs in this forum, since it IS about the prequels to come.

Not the most relevant thread in the world, but it would be even less so if it were in Misc...
