The media is going to rip George a new one when this show is released

Around the time the live-action show is released, the media is going to start informing the mainstream masses. So they'll naturally report on past Star Wars TV productions. And as we all know, Lucas doesn't... exactly... have.... a good track record in that area. The media will try to spin things and make this show a lughingstock , I fear, based on Star Wars' past television productions. So let's list them, shall we?

The Star Wars Holiday Special
Caravan of Courage: An Ewok Adventure
Ewoks: The Battle for Endor
Droids animated series
Ewoks animated series
Clone Wars animated series (OK, this one is somewhat respected, but the media will still spin things against it)

 

I'm sure that the media will take notice the closer we get but more in a "coming soon" and "tonight's the premiere of the eagerly anticipated" kind of way. Perhaps there will be some sneering remarks about the Holiday Special but I don't think they're going to rip George a new one because he isn't as interesting target for the media as say...oh I don't know...Paris Hilton. He's not that kind of celebrity that inspires the media to go after him.

 

The negative press I see a lot of has to do more with the fans than Lucas or his output.

Why would anyone bring up the holiday special when talking about the new series.
That is just foolishness.
I can hear it now on ET..
"Lucas moves to the small screen with his new live-action tv series.
The consensus among the critics is let's hope it's better then that crappy
holiday special he made years ago. Will he ever live that down?
Can fans ever forgive him? We'll find out, tonight on ET!"

Outside of the SW geeks like ourselves very few people are aware of the holiday special.
I also doubt you'll ever see clips of it ever played on TV because GL won't let them, so the media impact wouldn't be much without some of the nasty footage to play.

 

Well, Conan O'Brien managed to get away with showing some footage earlier in the year.

 

One example (Conan) is not foreshadowing of a media frenzy in which they will
attack the new show by slamming the holiday special.
Conan also likes to show clips of Walker Texas Ranger, but I doubt the media would
attack Chuck based on that if he had a new show come out

 

That's not what I meant (besides, the media trembles in fear along with the rest of us at Mr. Norris[wink]) . What I meant was that Conan was able to get away with showing clips from the special on air.
