It's been said that you don't have to be insane to work here, but it helps. By the end of this fiasco, I may consider looking for a doctor myself!

Wow, you really suck us into this story each time. =D=

Have I mentioned that I really like Gawynn in your stories? She's so concerned for Zuckuss's well-being in the upcoming fiasco, where it sounds like a lot of the hospital staff and high muckity-mucks are overwhelmed with how it affects their image/funding/whatever.

I have to remember to update this thing on a regular basis...

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Third month, 10th day, 29 ABY

Zuckuss doesn't quite remember exactly what happened, but Dr. Karastee asked him to write down that day, starting as close to the transfer as possible, as details may come to him as he writes. This is also to be his written statement, so he will attempt to be legible.

    Zuckuss's incident report

It was evening and Zuckuss had a med-check. He did a urine test, had blood drawn, and talked to Drs. Karastee and Waltrap. Then, Mandak arrived to escort Zuckuss to his cell. We entered the pod and [illegible] everyone was having pod time. [illegible]

He apologizes. He cannot finish this. He doesn't remember what happened [illegible] next. He can't think straight and he feels dizzy. His head feels as if it is full of sand.

Third month, [illegible] day, 29 ABY

While I don't like being in the hospital, it is nice to be out of Bedlam. The food here is better and I am treated well. I had a scan of my head today. I can still taste that metallic taste from the contrast dye. Dr. Karastee asked me to try and remember the incident.

    My incident report:

I had come back from an appointment and Mandak [brought] me into the pod during pod time.

    Dammit. Dammit! Dammit!

    KRIFF!

    I can't remember!

Third month, 20th day, 29 ABY

Zuckuss's courtship with freedom has ended. He is back in [Bedlam]. However, he is in a cell in the [infirmary]. He still has a cast on his arm and he has neck pain and headaches.

Zuckuss had submitted his statement. He still cannot remember the incident. He is also having trouble reading. [illegible] The text is blurry and hard to make out. It is not just reading−[illegible] his vision gets blurry. And he gets dizzy. It feels as if the room is tilting, like he is on a ship at sea.

He doesn't like this. Should he tell someone?

Third month, 21st day, 29 ABY

I am having trouble seeing. Things are getting [illegible] blurry and I am seeing double. Is this from the fall? What is happening? I hope that this is only temporary.

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

No doctor's note for this one. Gawynn is a bit busy.

That...sounds bad. Head trauma? You'd think they would've stuck him in a bacta tank and he wouldn't have had to go through this...but I suppose bacta is too good for inmates. :p

Ouch. Doesn't sound like Zuckuss's head injury is healing up yet. I like the switching perspectives. It makes his confusion seem even more urgent.

My flighty muse swooped in at the nick of time!

    ------------------------------------------------------------------

From the desk of Dr. Gawynn Karastee 04/29/29ABY -Personal!-

This month has been hectic. Zuckuss had been in and out of the bacta tank for part of the first quarter, while being treated for a head injury. I suspected that the reason the first dunk didn't take had something to do with his exoskeleton. These later dunks have helped to clear up the symptoms.

Amidst all of that is this whole thing with Internal Affairs. They've repeatedly questioned Zuckuss on not only the incident that sent him to the hospital in the first place, but also other incidents that they've derived from his journal, which I was reluctant to surrender as evidence. Any later entries after that were immediately surrendered to IA.

So, Zuckuss has been frustrated that he hasn't been able to write as often as he would like. He is also frustrated with how he feels that he must be mindful of what he puts into his journal, as his private thoughts had been laid bare.

The entries that I choose for my documents are those that I feel concern his state of mind. I omitted any private entries. I would have salad-barred entries for IA upon request, but they demanded the entire journal. They wanted an unbiased account, and my selections, they said, would reflect on my “bias against my patient.”

Thus, completing this series this month has been difficult. When I can procure the journal again, I will have to select entries at a later date.

Until then, I will supply Zuckuss with a note pad that he can keep in his cell.

Next month, we begin preliminary hearings. Zuckuss will require a competency hearing to determine if he can testify in court. I will also inquire about selecting an inmate advocate for him, or if the DA has someone else in mind.

There were a few times where Bedlam was headed for court. This is my first.

I have a lot to learn.
    ---------------------------------------------------------------------

Next month, hopefully my muse will be back from vacation and be ready to work.

Interesting explanation as to why the first dunking didn't take, though I'm not sure how an exoskeleton works vs. liquids. I can only imagine just how flustered poor Zuckuss is feeling...it's gonna get worse before it gets better.

That's the wonderful thing about bacta--it bends to the author's whim. ;)

Just grabbed my muse by the tail in the last minute!

    ----------------------------------------

From the desk of Dr. Gawynn Karastee -Private!-

Zuckuss had his competency hearing and was determined fit to stand trial. A court date has been set, and I am interviewing candidates to select an inmate advocate. There is no denying this, we are definitely going to trial.

Zuckuss is still frustrated over no longer having his journal. I have several small note pads that I receive from drug reps, so I'll give him some and allocate time for him to write, without it being confiscated as evidence, or whatever it is IA keeps wanting his journal for. He'll need this time to sort out his thoughts.

Zuckuss seems to be in for a long and frustrating ordeal, even with the bacta doing its work. As someone who really likes their privacy, I feel frustrated for him not being able to say who gets to read his diary. Gawynn clearly wants to see him treated better, but the bureaucracy has her hands tied. Not a happy situation. At least he seems to be mending physically.

By the way, I'm happy to see this is being updated again. I've been struggling to keep on track myself, so I can sympathize.
