Only good thing about Ankiel is that the relay throw from the OF is always going to be thrown hard. Old habits die hard for pitchers.

He used to be an OK hitter, but now he can't do much anymore.

Last night I think the Pirates finally proved the Brewers are beatable. It took 12 innings and a walk off homer by McCutchen but they got it done. They need to beat bad teams like the Brewers(can't believe the Pirates aren't a bad team this year) if they want to jump over Cincy into second place.

 

Also, Greinke is coming back tonight.

 

Voglesong is getting CHEWED UP by the Blue Jays right now. 8-1 in the second inning. :-(

 

Can anybody give me a good reason why baseball players are allowed to wear jewlery during games? Something like that in the vid above is a prime example why they should be told to take any jewlery off until after the game.

 

Probably the best reason is that they're grown men so they should be allowed to wear whatever they want unless it enhances their performance or whatever.

 

Despite looking terrible on the base paths tonight the Pirates pulled out the win. The Brewers basically gave the Pirates the win. 1/4 way thru the season and the Pirates are in the top 5 in the NL. Go Bucs!

 

That's hurts more and more the more I look at it. Yikes.

Winners of 4 out of their last 5 & Greinke's back (a month ahead of schedule!)... things on the upswing for the Bums? Hopefully.

Joe Posnanski wrote about the Astros a couple of weeks ago, specifically about how hard it is to be historically terrible. Some more games like last night and they won't have so much trouble after all.

Pirates win, tied for 2nd best record in the NL today and cracked the ESPN power rankings. Look out suckas!

 

It happened again this afternoon as well, as Atlanta* drove in 4 runs (off of Jansen & League) in the bottom of the 8th, turning a 2-1 Dodgers lead (why couldn't that 6th inning rain delay had turned into a downpour, and thus ending the game?) into the eventually 5-2 Braves win, capping off their sweep. Add to the list of 2013 Dodger frustrations: the increasingly shaky bullpen. The only real highlight of the weekend (aside from Scott Van Slyke hitting 2 home runs yesterday) for the Bums (during yesterday's game):

Tunick, which team in L.A. is getting hammered more because of their collapse this year; the Dodgers or the Angels?
