i have no use for that idiot, or his foul mouthed father.
started when i saw him several years ago on PTI. he made a reference to 'star wars nerds' out of nowhere. i yelled at the screen "seriously? you are a nerd ! you'd get your butt kicked now by a 7th grader"

Yeah I didn't see your post when I was writing that.

As stupid as Le Batard is, it has been somewhat amusing reading the reactions from people.

Nolan Ryan didn't get 100% on his voting, so it's no surprise that Junior didn't either. I doubt there will ever be a player that will get 100% of the votes.

Piazza struck out as many as 90 times.....once
but go check out his BA's with Dodgers compared to the mets. had his best years in L.A. also 4 100 rbi' years with dodgers, 2 with Mets.

his first few years with the mets were on par with his dodgers numbers, then he fell off a bit. but that's normal for a player in their 30's, especially a catcher, even if the steroid era taught us to expect otherwise. i didn't think rbi was a stat people still gave serious consideration.

Yeah and Piazza became identified with the Mets and had his most memorable moments with them and had playoff success. The Dodgers didn't even win a playoff game when he was there.

I still care about rbi's as well. Can't knock a guy for doing his job and driving people in. It doesn't all have to be about advanced metrics and fancy formulas.

Someone pointed this out on my Facebook yesterday, and I think it makes a lot of sense: Piazza is a great candidate to have a blank hat on his plaque.

i mean i agree to a point, and as sort of an "old school" fan i do have a soft spot for the stat. but you also really can't argue that it's not a heavily opportunity-based stat. a player can easily have a high avg. with risp and still have relatively low rbi totals simply due to a lack of chances in that situation.

Lol Dodgers fans are so salty. Get over it. Piazza left nearly 20 years ago. He means a lot more to New York, especially with the World Series run and his performance after 9/11

If Sammy Sosa was even elected into the Hall of Fame, what shade of him would the use for inspiration for his bust? :p

Piazza's numbers were better in LA than NY, but they were almost entirely a function of BABIP, .341 in LA, .296 in NY. His HR rate in NY was similar to LA (1 per 18 PA instead of 1 per 17), but in NY he hit more doubles per PA and his strikeout to walk ratio was better. And all that while playing in the clear decline phase of his career. Plus the World Series and plenty of memorable moments, he's become much more identified with NY than LA.

    Amazing.

Not that it matters, but the person who made the blank hat point to me on Facebook is actually a Met fan.:p

Griffey should have a backwards hat in his plaque.

Then I can pretend it's a Reds hat sometimes too [face_love]
