hey, still a chance. only two games out with six to go, and the teams they're chasing are playing each other the next three. probably have to win at least 5 of the last 6 but it's not unthinkable.

Two games back with 4 to go, but the Orioles are on a 3 game win streak. However, they do have 3 games against the Blue Jays so there is a chance.

I'm not a Giants fan, but I'm being entertained every night by their ups and downs on the chances of making the playoffs.

Cubs and Pirates tie in a rain shortened game, just another rare feat for this historic Cubs team.

Solid showing by the umpires in St Louis as they ran off the field without giving the Reds a chance to challenge the final play of the game, which the umps clearly blew. Good job, everyone!

    Robot umpires now!

    Amazing.

Well, sure... might as well have a pitching machine throw to batters, so that the pace-of-game can improve, along without having to worry about pitch counts, etc.

Thankfully it might help the Mets though since it hurts the Giants more than us. Could mean they have to burn MadBum to clinch a WC spot. If the Mets can't figure out how to take 2 out of 3 from the Phillies, we didn't deserve to be in.

That was crazy. I can't imagine anything like that happening in the NFL or NBA.

hard to believe it's the same league where teams had to come back weeks later and re-play the end of a game because george brett had too much pine tar on his bat. seriously, 5 minutes after the game and it's too late to do anything about it?

And it didn't help that the umpires had to change their defense twice, first citing the 10/30 second intent/confirm rule that I'm pretty sure has never actually been enforced, not that they stuck around for the allotted time anyway. And then they claimed the final play has to be challenged immediately which makes it even weirder that they stuck around at all after the play. It's not like MLB executives aren't watching or don't have people watching these games where they could get someone on the phone immediately and get everyone back on the field.

Of course, this all could have been avoided if MLB had implemented a reasonable replay system instead of manager challenges.

    Amazing.
