So some dude called up the Michael Kay show a little while ago and proposed a trade (Yankees fan): Jacob DeGrom for Miguel Andujar, Clint Frazier, Justus Sheffield, and the balance of Bobby Bonilla's contract.

wow. forget that they somehow missed that the guy swung, the pitch was like right down the middle.

I think I missed what was shocking about this video. I don't understand the language; but are they saying it was a goal, and the girl who kicked it is shocked that they gave it to her?

 

The ball was live and the girl just grabbed it with her hands and set it down. It's the very definition of intentionally handling the ball and a penalty at any level of the sport. Like, you cannot just grab the ball with your hands. It's against the very basic premise of the sport.

 

Oh ok. I did see that but didn't think it was as outrageous a call (or non-call) as the umpire's. You get non-calls like that all the time in the NHL; not to mention the NBA where depending on your popularity and talent the refs tend to look the other way when you blatantly travel on layups.

Maybe I've never cared to watch soccer before; but I know some of the basic rules about it. I know why they call it "football" everywhere but in the States.

 

You can blame the English guy who introduced it to America for that.

 

In Japan it’s called サッカー: sakkaa. But I do hear more people saying フットボール: futtoboru.

That's interesting. It's most likely a product of both American and European influence to Japanese culture.

 

Not totally outrageous. I'd rather another prospect than the Bonilla money, which I think is far less an issue than the annual stories make it out to be.
