    I mean, all things being equal I don't want to see it happen. But if the Yankees make a reasonable offer, I don't think it's smart to say no. Now, I think "reasonable" means Torres plus 2 others or as I said, Andujar, Frazier, Sheffield and another top prospect.

    For comparison's sake, Metsblog, which I don't know why I read any more, suggested what a possible trade with the Cubs might look like. He supposedly spoke with some executive who said a package of Addison Russell, Ian Happ, and Mike Montgomery could get a deal done. Which, obviously it could, because the Cubs are giving up basically nothing and were that to happen, Met fans would be right to riot at Citi Field.

    Yeah the Mets need a complete teardown at this point, and if it means the Yankees benefit....well that's what's going to happen. It's not like I haven't watched the Yankees win before, so I can deal with it.

    I just find it amazing (no pun intended) when I hear Mets fans calling up the local radio stations essentially saying they never want to do a trade with the Yankees no matter who they offer for deGrom.

    Oh, by no means do I expect the Yankees to do that, which is why a trade won't happen. But given what the Cubs gave up for Quintana, four top prospects is a perfectly reasonable expectation.

    Also, Mets about to trade Familia. Modest tear down begins!

    I'm not sure that's as bad of a deal as you think it is....Happ in particular could really turn into a star and I don't actually like the idea of giving up Russell.

    Russell and Montgomery are both arb eligible next year. Trading for two players just as they're about to become expensive isn't how you rebuild, if you're an intelligent, well-run organization (so I'm largely terrified).

    Ah right, didn't think about that though I don't think Montgomery is going to get that much either way. I'm skeptical of the Cubs moving Russell at this point...Happ and Montgomery for sure but I'm not sure the Cubs have enough left on the farm to go with those two to entice the Mets. Think they will make their moves to bolster the pen and bank on Darvish pitching better when he comes off the DL.
