Buff, NY the most boring topic ever- WORK

Hey everyone... sorry to bore you all to tears with this topic, but for some reason, I'm interested.

I'd just like to know what you guys all do for a living. Or for a time-being. What pays your bills?

I'm happy to say that I am NOT a debt collector anymore, I am a check verifier... though that still means that I am still working for the evil empire. Just, higher up. I have more useless button things on my chest.

 

I`m a stationary engineer downtown at the Electric Tower...It`s the little white building that changes color on the holidays. It`s also where we do the New Years eve ball drop (So, I guess I`m also responsible for the flow of time, since I`m the guy who lowers the ball that changes the year ). I run and maintain everything in the building and deal with the tenants.

 

Jamice is blissfully retired from teaching 4th grade.
Larry does in home computer repair and custom videoprinting.

 

omg, you do the ball drop? That's so rockin'! Is that the building that they light up red, white and blue... and then it looks just like one of those astropops? haha

And a teacher... I'm actually gonna go back to school for education, though I'm not sure at all where it will take me.

 

I get paid big bucks to be the CR!

Seriously, I am a Lease Consultant. It's kind of like a car dealer over the phone. Yep, study hard kiddies. 8 years of school and I get paid to talk on the phone!

 

Machine Operator. I work at Certainteed, its a hellhole that makes PVC fenceing. I set up and run extruders.

 

Yep, that`s the one. I`m gonna change it to red, white, and blue this weekend. Since I took over, I`ve done several different color changes. All red for American Heart Association, blue pink blue for March of Dimes, green for St. Patty`s day, all pink for Race for the Cure...watch for different colors this fall.
Doing the Ball Drop this past year was a blast. I`m pretty fortunate to have such a cool job.

And Chris...don`t think I didn`t notice my building is missing from the NR banner of the Buffalo skyline...

 

I work in the produce dept at Wegmans

 

Maintenance mechanic/ Welder for Certainteed, same old craphole Jay works at.

Well, that would certainly explain the electrical problems I had...

 

Cool! I used to work in that building from time to time when I worked for NiMo. I was living in Syracuse at the time and got sent out here occasionally to work on a new application we were implementing. (I won't bore you with the details). I met my wife while working out here which is how I ended up moving to Buffalo. The 2.5 hour drive one way just to have a date with her started getting a bit tiresome not to mention jacking up the mileage on my car.

Any way, I'm a Senior Application Architect/Developer which is just my company's fancy way of saying I'm a computer programmer.

I am an Office Manager for a vending machine company. I pretty much run the show here. We sell laundry equipment, arcade equipment, soda & snack machines, etc........ It's pretty fun!

Well I am. I hate my job. I do not like the company I work for or my immediate boss.
I have an associates degree in CJ. Why I do not know wanted to be a cop, at least when kids shot at me I would have a vest on. I wish I could go back to school to be a History teacher.

What company do you work for? I work at Lenahan Law Office or AMS on Great Arrow Dr, off Delaware. I think we have sort of a bad rep, as far as debt collecting goes... which is pretty bad.

Are you pretty good at it, at least? I was HORRIBLE. I never even came close to bonusing. I was lucky if I hit half of my goal. Now I sit around and pretend I'm doing something important between verifying checks and keeping an eye on the collectors, when I'm really like... posting here.

You say you met your wife here. Does that mean in the building? Does she work for NiMo?

 

No by "here" I was referring to Buffalo. My wife was responsible for the PCs in her small office and someone she knew worked at Nimo. She(my wife) was having problems with some of the computers and mentioned it to her friend and her friend told her (my wife) that she knew this handsome smart computer guy at work and she (my wife) should give him a call to see if he could help her (my wife) out. Well as it turns out she (my wife) got a hold of me instead and I helped her (my wife) out and well she (my wife) sounded kinda nice on the phone so we talked some more and then we met and then we got married. At least that's what she (my wife) tells me.

I collect for National Fuel. I ran an office of 5 collectors and 15 phone reps. Now it?s just me and another guy collecting 3rds. I do ok. I have hit a glass ceiling and there is no place left to move up.

 

Good thing it's not ceramic. We know how alergic you are!!

 

I work in a dental office in Snyder. I'm what we refer to as an official spit sucker! Thats me that annoying person who sits in the room with the doctor and hands him all the sharp instruments and trys to cram even more stuff into your mouth while asking you questions!

 

I work as a poker dealer at the Seneca Niagara Casino(the one on the American side). Its not really as cool as everyone thinks and no it doesn't make me a better poker player.

 

Ooh, poker. I attempted to learn it tonight, but it didnt take.
