The most dreaded of subjects: Holiday Special! AAAGH!

This thread comes out of immense curiosity. I have HEARD of this so-called "Holiday Special" and know that to Star Wars fans it is synonymous with garbage. However, I am too young to have seen it in 1978, so what the heck IS the "Holiday Special"? ?

We've got a couple of threads upped to the first page now, let's use those.

 

Trust us when we say you don't want to know.

 

It wasn't some weird Star-Wars-characters-save-Christmas thing, right?

 

No, no, it's "Life Day."

 

Jefferson Starship, baby.

 

"Life Day"? What is that, some tweaky Ewok holiday?

 

No, it's a Wookiee holiday.

 

Ok, so the "Holiday Special" was some kind of thing where, what, Chewbacca saves "Life Day" for all the good little Wookiee children?

 

And wears a Santa hat to boot!

I'm a fan of bad movies. I love MST3K. I can honestly say that "The Holiday Special" is the worst piece of garbage I've ever seen. Way worse than anything I've ever seen on MST3K, including Manos. That being said it is fun to watch just to see how bad it is. Just do a google search and you can find out all about it.

 

Don't forget Leia singing, and Luke getting in touch with his feminine side by putting on all that make-up.

 

Let me put it this way.

The Holiday Special is enough to make even the happiest, most well adjusted person on the planet contemplate suicide.
