Pretty much any Muppet video you watch on Youtube has millions of views, which attests to the idea that even after being semi-absent for 15 years, the Muppets are still very popular.

The new show. Not amazing, but not terrible. Somewhere between debo's expectations and my own. Probably a 6.5/10, with the hope it'll find its groove soon enough. Most of the best bits were stacked in the trailer.

Yeah. More laughs than cringes, so that's good. Didn't really feel as forced as I was afraid it would. I liked it.

I had a few laugh-out-loud moments, actually. And yeah, it didn't feel as forced as the film with Jason Siegel (still haven't seen the sequel). I enjoyed the show and how the new Muppet Show is actually a late night network show instead of a theater sketch production.

I also really enjoyed how the show seemed written for fans of the original show. More precisely, it seemed as though the writing was done with an adult audience in mind, like this was a continuation of the show and characters that we grew up with as kids and not just some reboot for the current generation of children.

This is actually what I appreciated most about the new show. Conversely, while I was also excited about the Boy Meets World sequel series, that turned out to be a show intended for a much younger audience and not really directed at the fans who grew up with the original show.

With the new Muppets show, the writing and scenarios have matured with the original audience instead of just half-heartedly trying to snag the original audience with nostalgia alone.

Not a bad start- the switch to a late night show format makes a lot of sense and they didn't focus too much on the mockumentary stylings, so the balance is there.

    Some good lines in there:

    Piggy; "Kermit!"
Kermit (to Scooter): "Uh-oh, it's too late for me- save yourself."
    Scooter: "Gotcha." (walks away)

Kermit: "My life is a bacon-wrapped hell on earth."
Sam (passes through): "Can't say 'hell'."

    "Skin! Skin! Skin!"

    "I feel terrible."
"You know what? I'll send him a gift basket with extra fancy salami."
"Right. Oh, Scooter- regular salami is fine."

The way they worked in more adult humor had me rewinding a few times. For instance Fozzy's line about his online dating profile about a lonely bear looking for love leading to a lot of wrong responses had me doing a double take.

    Also enjoyed:

"It's my job to warm up the audience"
"Oh no! We're going to die of hypothermia!"
    "I hope its quick!"

I love the two old guys in the peanut gallery. I love the line about praying for a tornado.

    Those guys are classic.

I like The Office style feel to it too.

It feels more like "30 Rock" than anything, IMO. I don't think it was a strong season opener, but I enjoyed it for what it's worth.

They updated everyone else's character, I think Statler and Waldorf could use a little bit of an update as well.

It was kind of weird seeing the Muppets in a show more targeted at adults but I think it worked for the most part and had some laugh out loud moments. Pretty much the whole Fozzie thing with the bear stereotypes really made me laugh and sad Tom Bergeron because I can't stand that guy.

Yeah. Fozzy really stole the show for me. Even though the trailer gave was some of his better stuff.

I think the most surprising thing was that Scooter, while still good at his job, is kinda a jerk, hehe.

Yeah, I thought those guys had the best funny moments, along with Kermit's line when his girlfriend was in the writers' room. Most of the jokes fell kinda flat for me, though.

My favorite moment was the flashback to Kermit and Piggy's breakup. I'd like more poignant bits like that.

It took me a while to realize Fozzie's gf was the tall one from Garfunkel & Oates.
