what is your opinion of his score?
has he done music for anything else?
Great TV scoring. Totally different to Stu Phillips' score for the original, and nearly as good.
He's also done the music for Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, for which there's also a score release.
The score for Eureka, both Rest Stop movies and Wrong Turn 2 are all available also, I think.
What kinds of releases are there out there for BSG music?
There's a score for the pilot and a score album for each of the first three seasons so far. They're all fantastic. Unfortunately, you just missed a sale that ended yesterday -- the label was selling them all half-price.
I am not sure I would buy a bunch of CDs, but I might take a listen to them and see if they hold up for me away from the show.
To my ears they're better away from the show. Watching the show I never felt that I must own the music, but having purchased it, I can marathon through all 5 hours or so (with breaks for my ears) of it without getting bored. It's always at least listenable with some stupendous tracks, both action and dramatic.
3 new BSG-related scores in '09 -- http://www.bearmccreary.com/blog/?p=1819
Caprica is coming in May/June, BSG season 4 2-disc set in July, we hope, and sometime later Razor and The Plan tv movies packaged together.
Man that's cool. I might have to start checking this stuff out.
