I think I would chose John Powell. John Powell is my third favorite composer (after John Williams and Hans Zimmer), and I though I'm not sure I would normally pick him to do the score for a SW film, I feel like he might be a good choice for the Han Solo movie.

I wouldn't mind hearing what Desplat would bring to the table in a future Star Wars movie. Maybe the Princess Leia Standalone? Which is likely to happen, since they are doing Han Solo. ;)

    Slightly off topic...
In the Blu-Ray release, did they go back and clean up Sy Snoodles? 'Cause she made 1997 CGI Jabba look like 2016 CGI Tarkin.

He would never, ever do this, but in an imaginary world where he'd even consider it I say save him for the Boba Fett movie.

Yep, Morricone would be great, but he's gettin' on in years. Wiki says he's 88.

But a mad early Spaghetti Western soundtrack would do fine for the Han movie

I'd like to see Desplat get another go. He's the best in the business, IMO.

Zimmer would do just fine. Johann Johansson would be interesting though. Trent Reznor/Atticus Ross would be even more interesting!

It'll be Giacchino, I damn near guarantee it.

Agreed. Giachinno is probably going to be the regular composer when John Williams stops. Wouldn't be surprised if he gets IX as a collaboration with Williams to transition, too.

I hope that happens. If Giacchino is going to be the one taking over for the Maestro for the foreseeable future, then collabing with him for the last chapter of our saga would give Giacchino a real opportunity to see the inner workings on how Williams creates, thinks, and operates. As someone who cares as much about the music in Star Wars as the film itself, that'd make me feel more comfortable about the future.
