My favorite Pearl Jam song is always on my October playlist. Of course it was playing as I read Strilo's post.

 

Great tune. No way could I pick a single favorite PJ song though.

 

I wish they would release the instrumental version of Duel of the Fates. Whenever I hear bits of it in TPM and in video games, I love it.

Exactly, and hence its yet to be heard in its entirety. The above video combines the parts of it that can be heard somewhere.

 

Finally bought a copy of TPM ultimate edition and I'm really enjoying it, especially the pieces that are new to me.
I'm realizing how much I love the PT music, especially TPM and RotS. JW's use of melodic motives, a la Wagner, is ingenious.

 

Despite the horrifying edits heard all throughout the album (especially in the action scenes) it's pretty much an essential purchase for what it provides. So many great moments were left off the first album and this edition at least partially corrects this

 

I noticed those edits, especially on disc 2 during the action, like you said.
Distracting, but a decent set overall. I love "Swimming to Otoh Gunga," "Enter Darth Maul," and many others.

 

Anakin is Free. Legendary.

 

Yeah, it has the first use of Qui-Gon's theme, a tragically underused piece. It even gets an action remix during the Tatooine duel with Maul, which is awesome.

It also has Shmi's theme, which returns in AOTC, and is one of the most heartbreaking themes I've ever heard.

 

Yeah, despite the relative lack of thematic consistency over the 3 prequel films, Schmi's Theme of all things makes an appearance in all 3 films.

When does it play in ROTS?

I know it plays once in TPM, when Anakin turns around to hug Shmi for the last time before leaving.

It plays twice in AOTC, first when Anakin and Obi-Wan discuss the dreams Anakin's been having, in Padme's apartment, and second just before she dies.

But I don't recall it playing in ROTS.

Oh and darkspine, Shmi's theme plays more than once in TPM. It's the music during The Racer Roars to Life, isn't it?

 

I don't think that it's quite the same theme.

Edit: By the way, does anyone know if anyone has been able to extract the music from AOTC or any of the videogames, that plays between Anakin and Obi-Wan meeting Padme again, and the start of Zam the Assassin and the Chase through Coruscant?

It has the second use of Shmi's theme, and some variations on the opening of Zam the Assassin.

It's also the only major piece from the films that I can't piece together in any listenable form. I wouldn't mind a few minor sound effects in the way, as long as the dialogue is mostly inaudible I can accept it.

 

Well I am back, and all moved out of my old apartment. Living with the parental units for a while to save up money and possibly buy a house. Should be interesting, to say the least.
