Anyone know how to get stains out of leather? I don't know what I got on my costume but I need to try to remove it. It probably is just sitting on the surface, so I don't want to crush it into it.

Anyone?

 

IS it finished leather? (ie smooth & shiny)

 

Nope. Suede-ish. It's not cow... I think it is lamb with a suede finish. It is garment weight (pretty thin).

 

Get a wire leather brush and try to brush it off... Otherwise... you're hosed

Well, it is on a sleeve. I might be able to cheat and hide it. At least where it is I could replace the forearm of the sleve. But even so that is gonna be another $20 on top of a $130 set of tunics! Not to mention the fact that I though I was finished with sewing for a while...

 

leather tunics ? whats your costume ?

 

It's a Jedi costume, but I wanted it to have a different feel to it. And it does. I'm just waiting on pants and boots and I'll get pics posted for everyone.

The tunics, tabbards, obi, and belt are all leather. It isn't as warm as I thought it would be either.

 

the wire brush is a good suggestion. You could also use a fine (and I mean fine) grit sand paper. and circular motions.

but if that dos not work you may want to replace the panel.

After this touch up you may consider using a water proofing spry (Like that used on camping equipment). I would test a bit of it on scrap first to be sure you get good results before hosing down the hole piece.
