[face_shocked] I hadn't meant the TQ to be that easy, Warlord_Ken.

    Oh well, great job.

Sigh, I usually try to design these with an easy out in mind, most people don't wind up seeing it, this time I didn't see it.

I-poodoo: <shrugs> I do what I must. I'll look at that TQ some other time and try to just use Jango/Boba.

Bravo: I'm a Tactical Terror? Cool! I guess you don't have to be a Senior Member to be a Terror, huh?

Btw, most of those people on that list of Members have completely forgotten about this thread.

Here's an excerpt from page 1 concerning the Tactical Terrors:

Also, the Tactical Terrors group, which refears to the old veteran members of the old TQ thread, are: WildWookie, GrandMoffTarkin, Bravo. The following old veterans are able to join:

    Warlord_Ken
    TIEace
    I-Poodoo
    GrandAdmiralJello

This group name is simply to give the old veterans a bit of respect and recongnition for their hard work and loyalitly to the old thread.

    Hope this helps.

Miccu_Resea - Warlord_Ken got it right. Once I can get together with the other Senior Members, I'll put out a more up to date version, which might be different. But for now, the one Warlord_Ken posted is official. If I am not mistaken, I think the other Senior Members and I had a talk about the title, or at least one of the Senior Members and I. It was a while back and I can't quite remember. But, I'll let you know if anything changes. :)

Warlord_Ken - Thanks for helping out
Miccu_Resea. :) And, maybe a few of our members have forgotten about this thread, but we all have to keep in mind that with school going back and with sports, not everyone is going to be able to be here all the time, like me. That is why, our Senior Member system works so well. Even if one Senior Member is gone for like a week, we have three more that can fill in that title. And, if all Senior Members are gone for some reason (probably very unlikely), we have DA who can fill that title also, until a Senior Member gets back.

    DA - Testing...testing...1,2,3. Testing. 8-}

    Tactical Question News

I still encourage anyone to post any TQ's or start a friendly debate. Once I get a firm base with school and football here, I'll be able to get online, hopefully, on a regular basises.

School is Back Poll (Poll 2)

Question: With all that is going on, school, after school sports, work, and other stuff, how many times are you able to post here or just give this thread a quick look, before you log off?

    A) 2 times a day
    B) 1 time a day
    C) 1 a week
    D) Other (Please list)

I know for me, with football and school, it is C.

Probably B. Most of the homework I'll be getting won't be too hard (I think), and I'll have it finished soon enough. Anyway, here's a tactical question for you guys (I hope we don't have one going already). It's kind of unique, so I hope ya like it.

    Battle Type: Ground
    Loctation: Coruscant, the bottom portion
Time Period: 2,00 years before Coruscant.
    Nearby planets: Uh..whatever's near Coruscant.
    Forces: Explained in mission info.
    Allies: none.
    Foes: Explained in mission info.
Rules: none really, but don't be cheap.
Mission Information: One of the Senator's 17 year old daughter decided it would be fun to go party in the nightclubs of lowerlevel Coruscant. Unfortunately, a group of thugs seized her, and now they have her in an area of the street. I say thugs, but they are trained. They have the whole area cleared out within a 50 foot radius. The leader of the group is literally holding her with a blaster pointed at her head. If he sees any sign of danger towards him or his men (snipers, etc.), he executes her immediately and runs. The group is in a circle with a diameter of about 10 feet, and in the middle is the leader and the daughter. Each of them is armed with a blaster rifle and scope, and they are fairly accurate. Coruscant police has been called in. You are the head of the team trying to rescue her. What do you do?

B for me, most likely. Maybe A, but I'm not gonna go online every chance I get like last year. At least, I'll try not to....

    Anyway, as for Kenobi's question:

This is tough cuz of the fact that the thug might be trigger-itchy and shoot the girl if anyone sneezes. So obviously, you got to do something that is 1) NOT perceived by any normal sapient as hostile, 2) distractive. Here all kinds of ideas come to mind. The first thing that I think of is something, ah, sleazy, if you get my drift, but maybe release a pack of rats or something? I dunno. Whatever you do, you distract the thugs long enough for a kind to creep up, then stun the thugs and rescue the girl.

    Well, that's my broad take.

I beleive my awnser would be C. My problem is that I live at school...and a private school at that. Because of very little Governmental subsidies...they cut corners in spending. On a campus with about 5000 students, 4 computer labs...and of course, all the faculty, they only have 2 T1 lines running. Needless to say, our bandwith is not very good for the individual. In fact, sometimes I just dial up to get in...but a lot of times, I just CAN'T get online to check...so please be patient with me if I do not respond for some time.

Just checking in. Hey, once I get time here, I'll post a TQ or try to answer WW's TQ from two weeks ago. School is taking up most of my time, so is football. But, as a Senior Member, I will try my best to be here when I can. Plus, I have fun when I am here.

Okay here's my New TQ. It's a bit different than what we're used to, but I hope it will still provide the same level of fun.

TQ# (geez what number is this again?)Edit: It is # 8
Setting: 5 years after the battle of Endor
    Your forces:
Your mission safeguard a New Republic new member world from increasing Imperial hit and run tactics in the sector.
    Start up Information:
Everything is quiet untill you feel your VSD shutter and klaxxons blare. Your sensor officer tells you two Imperial stardestroyers have just popped out of nowhere and blasted your engines.

    Current situation:
    Your forces:
    1 Victory Stardestroyer (crippled)
    2 Nebulon B escort frigates
    4 X-wing squadrons
    2 Y-wing squadrons
    3 A-wing squadrons
(All fighters save for 1 A-wing squadron is in your hangar bays.)

    Enemy forces:
2 Imperial Star destroyers (pointing directly at your damaged aft section)
    4 Tie Interceptor squadrons
    4 Tie fighter squadrons
    2 Tie bomber squadrons
    (still hangar)

    Wait there's more bad news:
It seems before joining the rebels' fight for freedom you were a struggling painter, yet the only man who appreciates and has recently studied your paintings is an alien Imperial Grand Admiral named Thrawn, who as coincidence would have it is commanding the two stardestroyers attacking you.

Well, I-Poodoo...I really see no answer to this question.

Two Imperial Star Destroyers, with full crew, and 100% running capability...versus the rest of my ships, which aren't battleworthy enough to do much

I would Abandon the VSD...launch all escape pods, and have the Neb-B's pick up what they could. A volunteer crew would stay aboard the Vic, and throw it in reverse, while short circuting the powercells, putting them in a feedback loop, and pushing the reactor to critical. That should register on Thrawn's scope, and he should back his forces off accordingly. The Volunteers would leave if they could, but I as the captain am responsible to making sure that my ship does it's job...I'll stay behind, and flip the switch that turns the almost three mile long ship into a large shrapnel bomb...robbing Thrawn of a refittable ship...the rest of my fleet jumps to hyperspace...hopefully able to retrieve most of the escape pods...the rest are instructed to put up no resistance, and offer surrender.

I know I've put you in a situation where you're at a disadvantage, but is giving up the only thing you can think of doing, Wild-wookie, I don't know I guess I was expecting some more brilliance.

Ah well, as Lando would say, sometimes the best Sabbac players are only great because they know when to fold.

Gosh reading this over I sound like I'm trying to put you down, W-W, I mean no offense in the slightest. I guess I'm just a little dissapointed that my stacking the deck against you didn't lead to you pulling out an Idiot's Array out of your sleeve.
You are right in that any fair commander would cut and take his losses in that situation.

Golly; Thrawn wins brilliantly and I'm not even Timothy Zahn.

    i-poodoo:

    1. Where are we? You say the task force is to defend an NR member world, are we anywhere near that world?

    2. How badly is my VSD crippled? And what parts are crippled?

In the end...a loss of a VSD would not be as bad as the loss of the crew and the rest of the fleet. Twin ISD's can easily take my fleet, even if the VSD was 100% working order. The only other way would be to divide up the ISD's so that they could not concentrate maximum fire power on any ship...but Thrawn would not fall for that.

IF I were Thrawn, what I would do is send out all my fighters to screen my ISD's, while having them advance side by side, about half a klick from each other. From that position, there would be no escape for the crippled VSD. I had to act fast, and the only thing that I could do is force Thawn to slow up, so that I could make my escape. Sometimes loosing is still winning.

Three projects and counting. Hey hopefully after all these projects, expect at least one a week with my senior classes, I'll have time to get back into the swing of things. I am almost done with one project, have one waiting for me next week and have two more I am currently doing.

In a reply to I-poodoo's TQ....

I would send out all fighters, and have 1 squadron of A-wings and X-wings attack each ISD. The VSD would fire all forward guns at the nearest ISD. This sounds like suicide, but, one X-wing and one A-wing took down the Executor! Of course, this is Thrawn, so it probably wouldn't work. If it didn't, I'd go with WW's plan.

I would like to join, also.

    I'm BAAACCKK!!

    To answer the TQ8:

I would order all of my missile tubes readied and launch all fighters. The Y-Wings would break up and 1/2 would launch at each of the ISDs, with 6 X-Wings following to exploit the gap in the shields before he could roll. They would fire directly at the bridges.

The A-Wings and all other X-Wings would fly Superiority dogfights. I would then send my Neb-Bs on a suicide course straight for the ISDs, tractors locked on to make sure they dont miss. Then I would launch all escape pods from those ships and overload the reactors. I would also use these ships to send the telemetry back to my crippled VSD, and launch all concussion missiles (40 at each SD), timing them to hit just before the frigate impact. Even if Thrawn manages to turn his ships in time, (unlikely that he would even read this strategy coming before the tractors), the missiles should make him shieldless when the frigates get there.

The frigates hit and Boom, both frigates and both ISDs go up. Then all fighters change to mop up, and we do what manuvering we can on thrusters to assist.

Losses: Imperials, everything (Including Thrawn, hopefully)

    NR: 2 Neb-Bs, one VSD crippled, 3.5 X-Wing squadrons, all Y-Wings, 2 A-Wings.

Whew- but it was better than an eye for an eye, or withdrawing.
