ST The New Big Three: What's Their Dynamic?

Harrison Ford was around Oscar's age when he, Fisher and Hamill started all of this. So yea, I don't think "three young leads" necessarily meant all three leads will be under thirty. Just younger than the OT Big 3.

I think it's a given that Boyega and Ridley are two of the three new leads. The other one is probably Driver or Isaac.

 

Nah, I don't think so. It's obvious what JJ was doing with the teaser, and the collectors cards, he had to know the implications it'd leave. I think Rey-Finn and Poe are our heroes. If anything, Driver aka Kylo Ren perfectly represents the Vader of the ST, who was just as heavily involved and a focal point throughout the OT trilogy and is just as recognizable , if not more than the Big three.

 

It would seem that way. I'm just trying to think of other possibilities heh

Not at all, the title of this thread is The New Big Three... yet we don't really know who the New Big Three really are. Given that Ridley/Rey and Boyega/Finn will be two of them, who will be the third? My question is relevant to a point I wish to make but I can say no more than that until I get a few answers....

Soldier. He'll probably basically serve the same initial purpose as Finn will serve for the Imperials. He'll give us insight into what it's like to be a Rebel during the ST era, 30 years after ROTJ. Who knows how his role evolves from there, Rey's love interest? Finn's rival that bloom's into a brotherly bond or maybe all of the above.

 

Drolo I'm leaning toward your point of view (Dameron is the third lead) but Crazy is not crazy. We know that Finn and Rey are two of the three leads, but the third (afaik) has not really been officially confirmed when it comes right down to it.

 

Disregarding everything we know about Rey and Finn for a second. Why would they choose to single out Poe along with a new era droid and Villain and two other characters who we as spoiler mongers actually know are THE new two leads of the trilogy? Just seems self explanatory to me when it comes to Poe.

Couple this with the fact that after Harrison Ford's injury, Oscar Issac's role was said to be getting beefed up as a result and there you have it.

But to each his own though, ya know.

 

I think its clear he is third. We had Finn, Droid, Rey, Poe, Ren, Then Falcon. Obviously the Droid is not the 3rd Lead so that leaves POE.

We need a competent non force user in the young class

not currently a jedi but would become one. im fine with Boyega being a soldier type, or Han type, but i think Oscar fits the role better. to me the teaser focuses on Finn and Rey as the force awakens, so i assumed they would both become jedi. but as long as we have one non force user im happy

 

Not sure, I just hope they do as great a job as McGregor, Portman and Hayden.....Issacs maybe the break out star though.

 

I'm sorry, but I just cannot discern the assumption that Boyega is a force sensitive due to the fact he is the first face we see in the teaser after "There has been an awakening.." His sudden appearance with a clear sense of fear and anxiety set the whole tone of urgency that was prevalent to the trailer. The voice over by Serkis was, (IMO) designed to be extremely indistinct as to actually who or what is was alluding to. John is going to be one of the new leads, and important to the story no doubt. And that's good, because he Is a very talented young actor.

 

I have not much doubt that he will wield a lightsaber, since he also wielded a sword in 'Attack the Block' and it was convincing. I guess they casted him because of his performance there.
