There's worse ways to be tortured. If Shedao Shai is using the Embrace of Pain like a pain pill addict, I don't think it's really all that bad beyond causing superficial pain.

but damn it's just so depressing, not at all like Leia getting shot up with drugs and tortured, or Han getting strapped to a geological survey device and electrocuted by it



Edit: what's funny is it occurred to me that all 3 films in the OT have torture in them.

The only NJO books I've ever actually read are Dark Tide and Star by Star, the rest of the series is just like that right?

 

a character gets tortured on every page of every book, and a character dies in every chapter

and a planet gets destroyed in every book

it's truly awful and not at all Real Star Wars™

 

In TRAITOR, I think it pulled out every follicle of hair, and that it sent neural sensations directly to the brain to maximize the feelings of pain.

 

The final straw was when they blew up Kalarba from the Droids comics, the most beloved planet in the EU.

Agreed about Ithor. At least Denning had that subplot in DNT. Oh wait he pushed them to the side and things still went to hell.

That is nasty (COPL thing). That ranks up there with the Post NJO stuff imo.

I think Luceno was just prone to use everything. And not just Bantam, because he especially used Daley's work.

 

Just wait until you see how many obscure things will get recanonized in Tarkin.

And something about the concept of Thracken makes me laugh. Don't know why.
