For your next task, I want you to create a short story of at least 1500 words. In this story, I want you to go out on a diplomatic mission to the planet of Klatooine. There has been some unrest on relation to the Hutts treaty, and skirmishes have broken out as a result. I am not sending you there to negotiate, rather there is a transport being contained that was sent under secort of a Senator and a small battalion of peace officers. They cannot leave the planet as there are raiders and pirates not allowing them to without a ransom. You are to bring said ransom and see to the exchange of the hostages. You will sent with a small escort of Senate Guards, and a temporary lightsaber.

Klatooine was delightful. The space port was surrounded on three sides by throughways leading to beaches and wooded glades. It was too bad I wasn't here to relax, although this mission was exciting enough. There was a lot riding on it. A Senator and her aides had gotten stuck behind a blockade of pirates and raiders wanting to make a point.

I was not there to arbitrate but to give the ransom - my stomach clenched at the idea of caving into terrorists. Although I was assured that this was merely an expediency to catching them with more incriminating evidence that would stick, down the road. Uh-huh, I had thought cynically. Whatever.

The loan of the sapphire-colored lightsaber was definitely an undeniable perk, I had to admit.

The coterie of guards I was supplied with were definitely not your run-of-the-mill types, either. They wise-cracked amongst themselves and from what I caught in snatches of conversation for pastimes they liked swoop racing and smashball.

The ransom was secured in an encrypted datachip. I plugged into a holo-comm terminal and sent a scrambled message which would look innocuous to any one who inadvertently was looking in to observe comm traffic. But it also included a secret and agreed upon coded batch of numbers and letters in what would at first appear a random order. Once I received the acknowledge and a response code that had to match the given parameters, I would send the chip to the person(s) /agents requesting /demanding the ransom.

The minutes seemed to drag on, but finally I got a reply. Since it was what I was looking to get, I slid the chip into the receptacle and let it whoosh away.

I sighed. My part of the task was done. But my overactive imagination wouldn't let it rest at that.

"What if they take the creds and flit on out here and don't release the hostages?" I wondered aloud.

The Guard Commander, Deslin, answered my semi-rhetorical question. "Guess they've worked out that contingency and even if they haven't, hey. It's not your headache any more."

His ironic tone made me laugh ruefully. "That's right. Guess it pays to be simply slated to run an essential but not overly dangerous errand."

I did get a chance to use my lightsaber, though. We went to sample a bit of the nightlife, live music along a pedwalk near the oceanfront.


Some goons were harassing a Drall and I and my contingent of guards stepped in to assist. The saber handled sweetly in my grip and the bullies scattered assiduously.

The Drall thanked us effusively.

We departed soon afterwards, and I resolved to make a saber with just that nice coloration and heft.

Ryokyo bows, gently and silently. He speaks not a word, but the light in his honey brown eyes is like a bonfire kindled on a bitter cold mountain night. He stands erect again, and steady.. Without the touch of hand or paw, a tuft of his sprouting mane fur lays back and down. It flows into a slow, circular motion, producing a long braided strand of white fur. From the small leather pouch hanging around his neck, six small beads rise, each sparkling with an inner fire in the low light. Suspended in mid air the beads form a line, and draw near to the braid of white fur at the back of Ryokyo's head. Seemingly without effort, the beads and the braid intermingle, securing the long twist of white, and setting it off from the other dense fur which grows to form Ryokyo's mane.
The product is a braid of almost a half a meter in length. Long enough so the beaded braid flows down his neck and around it, to fall over Ryokyo's left shoulder. As he moves, the braid will be perceived by all who see, but might well be missed by all those who merely look at the youthful lion.

"I thank you, august Master. Please help me to be worthy of my brother and sister Padawans, and the venerable members of our Jedi Order. I empty my cup to become a vessel for your wisdom. I pledge myself to the Order of the Jedi, and to the teachings of Master Rainbow Knight Star. May our colors blend to an arc of Harmony, Knowledge, and Serenity as we walk together as Master and Padawan."

May It Please You, My Master,

It is said that to know the Master, know his Padawan. Master Ikrit of Kushibah holds a unique place in both Jedi History, and devotion.Yoda's Padawan placed himself in a Hibernation state for 350 years to watch over Massassi children, whose souls were imprisoned in a Golden Globe by Exar Kun's Dark Magic. Master Ikrit sacrificed his life on Yavin 4 to help others escape the "Peace Brigade" during the Vong War.


May it please you, My Master, there are also two events which draw me strongly to Master Ikrit. He renounced combat with a lightsaber after nearly causing the death of a dear friend. He only chose to take up a blade again when the lives of others depended upon it. Like myself, Master Ikrit is a quadruped, for the most part, and I find that I empathize strongly with his feelings. I believe with all my heart in the principles of the Jedi Order, however, while I am almost certain I can build one if I must, I may have to ask the Council's dispensation, in the carrying and use of a lightsabre.
The second event is far more personal. Now that I am a Padawan, I shall disclose that It was dream-link with Master Ikrit which prompted me to seek out the Jedi Order.
If you believe it would be helpful, I shall recount my link with Master Ikrit for the benefit of The Archives, and for the Several Masters whom may find it of some historical interest, as Master Yoda was also a topic of our shared thoughts.
I would seek to emulate Master Ikrit, because his combination of unique application of skills, humble manner, and selfless sacrifice for others, even across centuries of time, touches the very heart of the Living Force which binds us all.
Master Ikrit once said: "As I said a warrior I may not be, but the Force is not weak with me." This echos what Master Yoda said to Master Skywalker: "Wars not make one great."
I humbly submit, My Master, such wisdom can inspire nothing save awe, and most earnestly sought after emulation.

May The Force be with you all, Masters and Padawans!

It was pretty hot here today too Master. Actually I think it reached over thirty but I could be wrong. Makes me wish I had a pool in my backyard.
