Hello fellow Jedi, I have returned, it will be very limited, but I just wanted to say hello. RL still lingers but the worst is over.

Task #5

From my observations of the Jedi during the time of Anakin, etc., they would likely not approve of the methods of their predecessors in the Old Republic. During the Jedi Civil War in the Old Republic, the Jedi Council sent a strike team to assassinate Darth Revan, the leader of the Sith. While events allowed them to capture him and wipe his memory rather than kill him, the initial intent was to take Revan's life.

The Jedi of the Old Republic differed in their approach to war and the Sith from those of the current era. They refused to participate in the Mandalorian war, afraid that such an action would lead to the path of the dark side. This was perhaps enforced by the recent events of the war with the fallen Jedi Exar Kun. However, when Revan and his rogue Jedi returned from the war as Sith, the Jedi were forced to enter the war. Because Revan was such a brilliant strategist, it was decided that he should be assassinated, and an attempt was made on his life. When Revan was captured instead of killed, the Jedi tried an experiment, and wiped the mind of the Sith Lord. It was hoped that he could return to the side of the Jedi (which he eventually did), but it was a very risky decision.

The Jedi of the current era were more open to joining a war and achieving victory through force. They were more apt to kill their enemies in combat, but did not show much inclination to forming an assassination team to go after the Sith like Dooku and Palpatine. In fact Mace Windu informed Senator Amadala that because Count Dooku was a former Jedi, he could never assassinate anyone. So the actions of the Jedi during the Jedi Civil War seems to be limited to that time period. Instead the current era Jedi sought to arrest Palpatine and the other leaders of the Separatist movement. They also seemed less likely to experiment with such dangerous and high risk methods as wiping an enemy's memory. They would probably have sought some other means of confining such a prisoner, or turned him over to the Republic to deal with.
