Kalnar decided to interject here, "So what's our plan of attack? The ground facility is our main objective, correct? Well, I'm guessing you are going by the book, and are going to have a space battle. The X-wings go for the fighters and they keep the fighters off of the E-wings who take down the VicStar and the Galleons with their torps. But what if there is a mishap and something goes wrong in this battle. A trap or otherwise. The mission will be scrubbed and lives will be wasted.

"This is just a guess of what you and Commander Kre'pek were planning. What if you sent a flight in on the surface while this battle distracts this guy above. Then that flight hits the facilities, comes back to the main battle, and helps clean up what's left. I'm not saying if you incorperated this plan, that my flight would lead the base run, but I do think this would be effective if incorperated. Can't be to safe." The Mon Calamari ended his talk and looked at the Major, then the Commander. He waited for them to take this in. He just thought up the idea, but he felt that it was the right way to go.

Each of the members of Feldman's team were sent through customs, their names registered just as their weapons were. This information was cross-checked and verified with identification provided by the agents posing as smugglers. In the event that any one of them were carrying unregistered weapons within the Corporate Sector, it would be easy to arrange a formal arrest.

Choosing to hold off any immediate response to Feldman's opening questions and comments, the young attendant offered a polite smile. "I think you'll be surprised," he said simply, as he led them through to the first customs officer. He watched with increasing curiousity as the group was questioned.

"Your name and identification please," the customs officer said, more than asked. "The purpose of your visit, your destination and estimated duration of stay." Each would be asked the exact same questions. Were they travelling together then the only difference between their responses would be their names.

On the other side, waiting for the group to pass through customs, the man that had been sent to greet them frowned thoughtfully. He wondered how the smugglers knew of the Peace Brigade given that he had only heard its name in passing and knew very little of the mysterious organisation himself.

OOC: Since you mention a person waiting for my character and his NPC team to pass through customs, I will RP assuming that they will be allowed through. I hope this is okay.

    IC: Commodore Kevin Feldman

Outer edges of the Corporate Sector

Commodore Feldman was the first of his team to go through customs. To the customs officers query, he answered matter-of-factly, "Victor Dushorct, Captain of the YT-2000 Light Freighter Blue Ghost. The purpose of my visit is business, specifically overseeing the import and export of crucial supplies. Proper fees will, of course, be paid. My destination is Etti IV and my length of stay is, currently, unknown, although I will try to minimize my time in your territory."

He presented his identification, created by some of the best forgers in New Republic Intelligence and Fleet Special Ops. Of course, they were accepted, and the commodore proceeded as though this was all perfectly normal for him as a spacer.

After Feldman was finished, his team was individually questioned and gave the same answers the commodore had given, albeit with different names and positions. They showed their IDs and were allowed to proceed.

Once his entire team had been checked and processed, they conglomerated just past the customs line and, as a group, walked over to the waiting attendant. Feldman noticed the man's thoughtful frown, a frown of suspicion, but pretended to ignore it.

"Thank the stars that customs here is quick and efficient, not like those bureaucrats in the Republic. Am I allowed to proceed now to Etti IV?"

Commodore Feldman, in order to allay any potential suspicians, had to act like a real smuggler. No time for idle chit-chat and games, not when he was on the clock. He had been cordial and friendly pre-customs check, but then he had nothing to do. Now he was ready to move and, where the Vong were involved, time was never on his side.

"Uh," the attendant mouthed, his frown more profound at this most recent development. He blinked slowly and shook his head in confusion. "Will you not be seeking accomodation and entertainment while your ship is repaired?" He felt that he was receiving mixed signals from the smuggler captain and hoped it would not cause him problems.

Meanwhile, back at the ship, a pair of technicians headed toward the freighter and examined it casually. They walked around the vessel and observed it both with their specialised equipment and with the naked eye. There seemed to be no obvious traps or triggers, which led the first of the pair to step closer and touch the vessel, seeking a way inside.

The easiest way was to walk straight up the landing ramp. Were the ramp not open, he knew his partner would be seeking a way to overcome that setback by activating the ramp's external release. Most ships docked with their landing ramps open for inspection, as per customs orders, though some certainly did not.

In the unlikely event that the technicians could not gain immediate access to the vessel, they were instructed to call for a scanning crew, which would mount a thorough investigation of the vessel and any of its secret compartments before or after the ship's captain and crew returned.

Something very strange was going on here. At almost every customs/system entry station he had ever been in, they wanted to get you in and out as fast as they could. Even if they had so-called entertainment and accomodations, that was merely to keep put-off tourists at bay. The other thing.

Then he realized something else was terribly wrong. In his cover story, he had claimed had just barely escaped from the New Republic, but also claimed he escaped without damage. His freighter didn't need any repair work.

Walking slightly behind the attendant, Feldman made a very discreet hand motion towards Andorvic, Falner and Valmont, sending them back towards the freighter. As the trio of agents carefully, and very quietly, pulled back from the small group and headed towards the docking bay where the Blue Ghost was, Delonaga'na and Feldman closed in on the attendant, flanking him on either side.

Commodore Feldman sighed slightly, glancing at the attendant, "Perhaps I was a little hasty, but ever since the Vong invasion, life has gotten more and more stressful. You should see what its like in the Republic; everyone is paranoid, looking over their shoulder. Everybody is in a rush."

    ***

Andorvic, Falner and Valmont crept back to the docking bay entrance, palms resting on their respective blaster pistols. Since the technicians had left the public bay door open, it made the job of sneaking into the area much simpler.

Andorvic went first, leaning out into the doorway, glancing around. As was standard at a customs station, the ramp into the freighter had been left open in case officials needed to inspect it. There was no sense in appearing suspicious and, thusly, garnering unwanted attention.

He rolled out as quietly as possible and then dived to the left, behind several stacked crates. Falner and Valmont went next; Falner joined Andorvic while Valmont moved to the right, ducking behind a coiled fuel pump hose.

Instead of making a hostile move, the trio of hidden agents watched the technicians, hoping to find out what was going on.

At first the smugglers aroused curiousity within the attendant, but as three of their party headed back toward the freighter, suspicion overcame the attendant. He made no effort to hide his gaze of interest as he watched the trio depart. Like Feldman, the attendant felt that something very strange was going on.

"Not to worry," he commented casually, as he led the way deeper into the space station toward an open forum where several beings from various planets of origin gathered to watch a performance. This particular display was a musical composition from a Bith duet known along the Rim as the Bulbous Brothers. Whether the Bith were actually brothers or not was something the attendant did not know. What he did know was that the pair were excellent musicians. "I hope you enjoy."

He led Feldman toward a vacant seat, saying, "Excuse me for a moment while I gather some refreshments. Do you have a beverage preference?" His tone was nothing if not polite, just as his training provided.

Meanwhile, the technicians assigned to check the freighter began visually searching within the vessel. They looked for any signs of hidden compartments, any open signs of contraband weapons or other products, and checked the ship's log. Their task was to ensure the smugglers were not working to deceive the CSA.

    Commander Smith Bor
    Defiance, Above Mon Calamari

The ship was very crowded, more so than Smith would have thought. Though it was true that this was the flagship and generally would be full of people, it surprised him nonetheless, that it could be packed so full with the New Republic?s finest.

The young commander followed at a normal pace behind the impressive form of Colonel Brodi. The Rogue leader strode with surety and a charm that made him look the epitome of a good commander. As they walked along the crowded corridors, Brodi?s presence alone gave him recognition from the crew and pilots that he passed. Smith couldn?t help but be impressed that this officer who had led the elite Rogues into combat was showing interest in the rookie squadron of his.

Brodi walked up to Admiral?s door, set aside clearly because of the guards standing at stiff, and armed, attention at either side of the door. Neither guard moved to address Brodi as he strolled past them.

They must know him pretty well to give him such a passive look.

The one guard to his left was smiling slightly at Brodi talked about something that must have been an inside joke. Smith smiled broadly, again amazed at the Colonel?s ability to handle himself around nearly any situation.

Upon entering the cramped office of Admiral Abroga, Smith stiffened up as straight as he could and put his hand to forehead in salute to the figure that he didn?t even attempt to look at. From his straight-ahead view, Smith saw the back of chair.

    He must be sitting down.

?Reporting as ordered admiral.? Colonel Brodi said, at attention beside Smith. He turned to face the young commander. ?May I introduce Commander Smith Bor, CO of Savior Squadron.?

Arboga stood from his desk and walked over to the man. ?A pleasure to make your acquaintance commander. I understand from Daniel here that you and your pilots have made quite an impression on him.?

?Thank-you, sir,? was Smith?s reply. He allowed a small smirk to escape his controlled lips. ?I think it is safe to say that the entire squadron has been spoiled in our chance to work with Rogue Squadron, sir.?

I think it best to keep it short. The reasons for this meeting will be revealed soon enough.

Admiral Arboga shook his head. ?You are to modest commander. Between the simulator scores that I received from your commanding officer on Commenor and the positive appraisal of your skills by Colonel Brodi, I think it is safe to say that you have a hot bunch of young pilots.?

The admiral motioned to a pair of chairs in front of his desk. ?Take a seat gentlemen. We have much to discuss.?

As the Supreme Commander took his seat, he opened a small jar on his desk. Grabbing a pinch of the flaky substance in his flippered hands, he dropped the material into a small orb of water that was supported by a repulsor field. Small little fish suddenly darted about the orb and gobbled up the flakes. The admiral watched the small fish for a moment, saying nothing but with his face showing contentment.

Laying his hands flat on the desk, Arboga got straight to business.

?According to the refugees already arriving here at Mon Calamari, New Republic forces assisted by Jedi are organizing the full evacuation of Dellalt. Intel on the size of the fleet is incomplete, though we know that it contains several large capital warships, including one that is approaching the size of a Super Star Destroyer.?

The admiral paused for a moment, before continuing.

?Yet, the last transmission I received from New Republic forces engaged at Kegan is encouraging. It appears that our fleet is beating back the Vong attack force. If Admiral Rancis prevails, we will be able to secure the safe evacuation of the entire world.?

?While the threat to Mon Calamari has tied up much of the fleet in this region of the galaxy, it is militarily prudent that we endeavor to continue hitting the Vong where they are weakest. If we can keep them off balance, we may be able to put a hold to their advance before we build up the necessary forces to launch a large scale counter offensive.?

Colonel Kre?pek listened intently to the plan set forward by Lieutenant Omana. When the Mon Calamarian finished laying out his plan, the Bothan colonel spoke.

?An excellent plan Lt. Omana. While Halo Squadron engages the enemy fighters, the Knave?s can begin a run at the orbital portion of the base. If this draws off the bulk of the Imperial forces, your flight will slip down to the surface and knock out any surface installations. The catch is that you will only get one pass. Our goal here is to launch a devastating hit and fade assault. As soon as you torp the facility on the ground, head space side again. Hopefully by then we will have damaged the orbital shipbuilding yards and knocked out that VicStar Deuce.?

Major Artanis spoke up. ?The clock is ticking people. The Nodiram will be dropping out of hyperspace within the half-hour. Get to your rides and get them prepped for launch.?

Shale came up infront of Kalnar. "Well, it's a good thing we have a clever flight leader. Otherwise, I'd be pretty mad right now." The red skinned Twi'lek gave Kalnar a smile.

    "Still, I think-"

Lenin cut him off and passed out water to the flight, "Don't think, just drink."

    ---

Kalnar sat in his cockpit going over the pre-flight checklist. "Alright Spazzy, that seems to be everything."

A message on the screen came up with a large amounts of questions fro mhis little droid about the mission.

"Are you a defect, or something?"

    The droid tooted in disagrement.

?I agree, sir. Especially where moral is concerned. There has to be some victories on our side for the military to feel better about this,? Smith added and looked to each of the leaders before staring back into Arboga?s eyes.

Should I be saying anything here?

?When Dellat was hit this orbital station out there went in a frenzy. When Kegan was hit and lost, you could feel it out there. As Commander Smith Bor elaborated on his personal views of why the New Republic should take the offensive, Admiral Arboga smiled inwardly. Many officers were nervous and quiet upon first meeting the Supreme Commander of the New Republic?s military. Yet, this young commander, self-assured and confident, was comfortable enough to have a conversation. Arboga made a mental note to privately tell Colonel Brodi that his confidence in the young commander was more than justified.

?Commander, you have succinctly summed up the opinion of the High Command in just those few short sentences. For being such a young man, I am impressed with your ability to understand the scope of military affairs and such non-tactical aspects of warfare such as morale.? Arboga looked pleased, even slightly impressed.

The Mon Calamarian continued. ?With thinking like that, one day you may find yourself in command of a cruiser or a task force, rather than just a single fighter squadron.?

Colonel Brodi shot the admiral a raised eyebrow glance. ?Sir, are you trying to convince this young man to hand in his wings and command a brick like a Star Cruiser or frigate? Surely you must realize that most of us prefer the small snubbies.?

Arboga smiled. ?While you and your roguish friends may prefer to stay in your cockpits when others your age are moved into Fleet Command, some officers realize that eventually the time comes to put the fighter away and take on greater responsibilities.?

?Not that I intend to transfer you any time soon commander? the admiral said, looking back at Bor. ?From the looks of you, I would say that you have many more years in command of a fighter unit.?

NRS Nodriam, edge of Toydarian system

The New Republic carrier Nodiram dropped out of hyperspace on the edge of the Toydarian system, just outside sensor range. While the worlds of Hutt Space were technically under the jurisdiction of the Galactic Empire ever since the major campaign that defeated Hutt forces and conquered Nal Hutta, the region remained lawless and contained only a moderate Imperial navy presence. It was no surprise then that a breakaway Imperial commander chose to set up a private base on a world had little importance in the scheme of galactic events.

On the bridge of the Nodiram, a Duros captain stood in front of the main viewscreen. A veteran of years in the New Republic navy, the captain knew how best to use his carrier. Armed with only a handful of turbolaser and laser turrets, the Nodiram was safest when outside a battle zone. As a result of this, the carrier prepared to launch its fighters.

Opening a channel to the ships massive hangar, the Duros captain spoke in the slow and methodical way that was a hallmark of his species.

?All fighters, prepare to launch. We will remain on the system?s edge until the battle is over. May the Force be with you.?

    Hangar bay, NRS Nodiram

Colonel Kre?pek?s voice came over the private frequency of Knave Squadron. ?All fighters prepare for launch. One and Two Flight on me. Three Flight, make your way planetside and knock out the main command facility and sensor dish.?

Immediately, the various fighters of Knave Squadron lifted off the carrier?s deck and headed towards the main hangar opening. Following them out were the X-Wing?s of Halo Squadron, as well as a quartet of B-Wing?s code named Gold Flight.

As the squadrons exited the hangar, each preformed a micro jump in system. As soon as they reverted, Knave Squadron?s first two flights and the four B-Wing?s of Gold Flight headed to engage the VicStar Deuce. The twelve X-Wing?s of Halo Squadron broke into wingpairs and opened their S-Foils into attack position. The battle was about to begin.

    IC: Minister Keelu Yeh

Ministry of Commerce, Floating City, Mon Calamari

The Quarren female minister was busy reading a Intelligence proposal for increased spending on covert operations when a Rodian aide entered her office. The Rodian was a young man who had recently been assigned to her staff. While young and still a little green, the man had taken to his job quite well.

"Quamil, can you please contact our ambassadors on Leritor, Umgul, Excarga, and Bpfassh. Tell them I would like a report on how our trade compacts with each of those worlds is going."

The four worlds had opened exclusive trading contracts with the New Republic government, opening them to the larger galactic market. They were all key components in Minister Yeh's plan to strengthen the New Republic economy, as well as show those neutral worlds some of the benefits of membership in the galactic government. While the Galactic Empire rarely cared for worlds outside the Core, the New Republic government under Jenica Belami was making a major effort to expand it membership for the greater galactic good.

As if to make a symbolic point, the new Chief of State concentrated on approaching worlds that had no major military assets or defense forces. These new allies were to be for reasons other than increased military power, which often seemed to be the goal of the Imperial royalty on Coruscant.

    IC: Director Giar Fythe

NRI Complex, Underwater city, Mon Calamari

The Zabrak head of New Republic Intelligence read through several reports from officers on and near worlds threatened by the Yuuzhan Vong. With their conquest of the Tion Cluster nearly complete, the director began to plan for other possible actions.

While Fythe knew that the military was always going to be the most visable means of the Republic's defense, he knew deep down that it was in the dark alleys and secret bunkers that were the realm of Intelligence that the real tools to win the war would be found. While men like Arboga had the luxury of fighting a war against the seen enemy, the Director had to look for the enemy were he was not always visable.

It was for this reason that the director sent three teams of agents and the appropriate resources to Gand, Toong'l, and Caluula. These worlds were all in the invasion path. If his teams could get set up on those worlds and make contact with the local governments, it was possible that he would be able to gain valuable information should the Vong decide to move on those worlds.

"Contruum", said the admiral simply to a room that contained half a dozen top Fleet Intel officers. "That is a world that I have great interest in."

Several of the officers nodded in agreement. Contruum was a major world that lay just off the Perlemian Trade Route. While not technically a member of the New Republic, the world had long been a friendly port for the ships of the government. While neutral worlds had long been safe during the war between the New Republic and the Galactic Empire, the Yuuzhan Vong invasion put many at risk. With the worlds of Aquaris and Velmor having fallen to the Vong, Contruum seemed to be near the invaders main push into the heart of the Empire.

"I want to send a team of special agents to Contruum. This small group will be led by Commander K'cin Idonram." The admiral made a gesture towards the human male seated on his right.

"Their goal will be to make contact with the local government and get their permission to set up a cell on this world. We can work in conjunction with the local Republic ambassador if needed. In any event, I hope to get a vital intel center set up on the world so

Arboga nodded at the young mans comments. "Now, let me get to the point of this meeting. NRI and Fleet Intel have only provided me with incomplete information of Yuuzhan Vong fleet positions and strength. Therefore, I have decided to get information the old fashioned way."

The admiral tapped a key on his desk with his large webbed hand. A hologram of the region around Mon Calamari floated between the admiral and his two guests.

"Rogue and Savior Squadron's have been assigned to a recon mission of the Munto Codru system. It's close proximity to Mon Calamari makes it a likely place for the Yuuzhan Vong to base part of their fleet."

Colonel Brodi rubbed his chin. "Not an easy mission admiral. One that could get pretty hairy if we encounter a large formation of Vong warships."

Rogue Leader turned towards Commander Bor. "Do you think your squadron will be up to a dangerous recon mission like this?"

Commander Bor rubbed the soft flesh under his bottom lip with the nail of the right thumb.

?That?s a serious question, Admiral,? he said looking right into his eyes.

Something that needs to be handled. No jumping through hoops. Are they ready? Nobody has seen action yet. That could be a good thing or a bad thing. Wonderful or disaster -, that?s the balance. But, on which side of the fence with the ysalmri fall, I wonder?

?Well, sir,? the young dark-skinned man started sitting up straight. ?They are growing in skill. Their fresh, albeit a bit more conditioned than most our age. They have shown signs of being impulsive at times which could be a dangerous failing. On the other hand, they work with great unity that I?ve rarely seen in other squadrons around us."

He looked over at the Admiral with a serious look on his handsome face.

?The mission you?ve set before us is dangerous,? he continued slowly, stressing every word. ?They?will do their jobs. Savior Squadron has trained to be ready to face the enemy.?

He turned to Colonel Brodi and nodded slowly under the gravity of this situation.

?Regardless of the how many of us come back, they?ll do their job, sir. I can assure you that much.?

Colonel Daniel Brodi smiled proudly behind Commander Bor. It was obvious that the leader of Rogue Squadron felt that his confidence in the young commander was justified. For a few moments the admiral just sat at his desk, examining the young commander seated before him.

?You are everything I was lead to believe about you commander?, said Admiral Arboga. ?I have met many young squadron commanders in my career, but I can honestly say that few have made as big as impression on me as you.?

The Supreme Commander swiveled his massive eyes from Brodi to Bor before settling on the holographic map that was still projected above them. Leaning back in his chair, Arboga seemed satisfied.

?This mission is to be considered approved as of this moment. I expect it to be operational with 72 hours. At that time you will head off to Munto Codru and begin your recon of the system.?

Brodi nodded. ?Understood admiral. With a little bit of luck, and a the Force, we may be able to get you some concrete information on the Vong fleet size and disposition.?

The colonel stood from his seat and saluted.

Planetary orbit, Sullust, amongst the Second Fleet

After nearly a month of hard work and even harder combat, the New Republic cruiser Dauntless returned to Sullust. Captain Rakkrukh and his experienced crew successfully defeated the rogue Imperial commander who had begun to prey on Republic shipping near Vandelhelm. The mission had the double bonus of showing the newly joined world of Vandelhelm of the commitment the New Republic had to its defense. In all, the mission had been a smashing success and a shining example of the leadership qualities of the Whipid captain.

As the Dauntless entered orbit with the rest of the New Republic?s Second Fleet, starfighters from other capital ships formed an honor escort. In recognition of their success, the crew were ordered to bring their ship into formation alongside the fleet flagship, the MC-90 cruiser Startide.

The jubilant mood of the fleet was a welcome change of pace. With reports of fighting going on near Mon Calamari against the Yuuzhan Vong invaders, many in the Second felt that they were sitting by while their brothers and sisters in the other fleets, especially the First and the Rapid Deployment Fleet, were fighting and dying in defense of the ideals of the New Republic.

As the Dauntless came alongside the flagship, a on-duty crewbeing manning the comm systems received a communication. After receiving the message, the young Mon Calamarian walked over the Rakkrukh, who was busy reading a report in his command chair.

?Sir, I have a priority message from Admiral Jolef. He has requested that you meet with him onboard the Startide as soon as the ship is safely in orbit.?

Young Xander Ettiz was a recent graduate of the New Republic Fleet Academy. The human male sported a hairstyle common to many of the younger graduates of his generation, his black hair jelled in spikes. A handsome man who was deftly built, he graduated with honors. His scores warranted his starting rank to be lieutenant, which was higher than most officers fresh out of the Academy. Many felt that the young man would go on to achieve great things in the service.

His assignment to Fleet Intelligence was one that probably came as no surprise, given his skills seemed destined to have him end up there. While piloting a X-Wing or commanding a Mon Cal cruiser were more glamorous and flashy, it was a fact that intelligence wins wars and prevents them.

A Bothan female in the uniform of a commander approached the young man as he entered the complex that housed the headquarters of Fleet Intelligence. ?You must be Lieutenant Ettiz. I am Commander Jastra Nay?cra. You h

If one is to win a war, one must know their enemy better than they know themselves

Xander Ettiz had followed these words for years and there was no surprise to his family and friends that the young graduate had been assigned to New Republic Fleet Intelligence. The Ettiz family had served the military of the ruling governments for hundreds of years and that line would not cease with Xander. No, he would continue his legacy.

Still, Xander was surprised with the rank given to him: Lieutenant. The rank was not given out easily but still after graduation from the Academy, he had been given the rank and sent off to Fleet Intelligence. It was strange, but still Xander was proud of it. Nobody ever received the rank of lieutenant upon graduation; well, nobody except himself.

He looked up at the huge building that housed New Republic Fleet Intelligence Headquarters as he entered, a beaming smile on his face. Immediately, the young lieutenant was greeted by a Bothan female, a commander.

?You must be Lieutenant Ettiz. I am Commander Jastra Nay?cra. You have been assigned to my team. If you would follow me to our briefing room, I will introduce you to the rest of my bunch.?

Xander nodded, following the commander to the briefing room. Today was a bright day for the Ettiz family, but especially Xander.

Kalnar could feel his heart racing, hoping he hadn't made a mistake when he spoke up about his "plan". Kalnar looked at his flight's E-wings coming out of the hanger. His pilots brave souls of the New Republic, some of the best. They knew the risks, and they had been with the squadron longer then he had. He looked over at Lenin's E-wing and gave a worried smile, silently telling her to be careful and watch her back.

"Three Flight, listen up. We'll hang back and wait for the initial battle to start. Then, when our people flush out that VicStar Duece and the Star Galleons, we move in on the planet. On our way down or on planet, if we pick up any enemy fighters, 11 and 12 will peel out. Keep them off us until we torp the base. Got it."

    "12 acknowledges."

    "Understood wingman."

    "Gottcha 9."

The quartet of E-wings followed Kalnar in closer to the planet as the main battle began to unfold.

Colonel Brodi led Commander Smith Bor out of the admiral?s office and back into the main passageway that led back down towards the Defiance?s main hangar. The pair of officers passed several ever busy crewers along the way. Obviously traffic on the warship was always very high.

?Well commander, you may not realize it, but that was quite an accomplishment you just had. Very few young squadron commanders are offered the chance to meet with Admiral Arboga personally in his private office on the fleet flagship.?

Battle of Toydaria, Imperial controlled Hutt Space

Major Artanis lead his Halo Squadron into the thick of the oncoming TIE Fighter squadrons. Breaking into wingpairs, the T-65 X-Wing fighters began to tear into the massed Imperial fighters. Without shields and lightly armored, several of the TIE Fighters fell to ruby-red laser blasts from the highly trained X-Wing pilots. The TIE pilots, seeing that their idea to attack the squadron head on was futile, scattered out and tried to isolate individual X-Wings.

The remaining two flights of E-Wing?s under Colonel Kre?pek flew through the gap created by the X-Wing?s and head straight for the VicStar Deuce, which moved away from its position over Toydaria and entered the battle. As it began to disgorge the two squadrons of TIE Interceptors that it ferried into battle, the pilots of Knave Squadron began to launch their first of several torpedo volleys that the Star Destroyer. Several were shot down by point defense fire, but several more slipped through and impacted against the vessels still powerful shields.

?Knave Three, cover Four and Five as they make their run?

?Copy Knave Leader. Moving into cover formation.?

Several TIE Interceptors streaked at the oncoming E-Wing?s, unleashing a furious barrage of green fire. The shields on the E-Wing?s sustained this first volley, though several pilots had to pull off from their attack runs to recharge shields.

As the deadly dogfight progressed, X and E-Wing fighters exchanged fire with the larger number of Imperial TIE craft. Several craft on both sides began to blossom into explosions or pull off, trailing tails of fire.

As the quartet of B-Wing?s lined up for their attack run on the Star Destroyer, two X-Wing?s broke off from their engagements and moved into a protective formation. Elsewhere, Knave pilots continued to streak in and launch torpedoes at both the VicStar and the pair of Star Galleons, which had finally entered the fray.

Kalnar and his flight streaked through space toward the surface of the planet.

"Spazzy, check the planet for any signs of communication going to and from the planet. Check for anything heading to that VicStar."

"Alright three flight, we're going to be the wind blowing from the west. Arm your torps."

The flight of fighters descended to the planet. "May the Force be with us," Kalnar whispered over the comlink as the four fighters fell to the planet. It was there chance to shine. Coming out the Admiral?s Office was like walking out a garden and into a stampede. It was such a contrast. First, it was the peaceful, respectful presence of the Supreme Commander himself and now it was a crowded ship with many aboard.
