Bingo! It was a very arrogant thing to say in my opinion. It's only a fact when the movie comes out. Until then, it's a rumor, information, tidbit, maybe even unsubstantiated spoiler. To say it's a fact is probably not the best choice for words.

 

The problem is that the article was hyped up to be about parentage. Whoever this Florian guy is, I don't know if he has connections to MSW or not, but prior to the article release that's what we were expecting. When the article released it is vaguely written to imply that Leia might be the mother of Poe, but it could also be implied she's just a mother like figure to him. That's the disconnect here.

 

Oh thats right! I'd forgotten about that. Good point.

Though if Poe is indeed part of the Skywalker bloodline by way of being Leia's biological son, and is force sensitive.... based on what we know about TFA, I seriously would doubt that is something he realizes he has in him yet at this point. So him having or not having a jacket that has a saber holder is likely inconsequential at this point in the story.

I agree. It seems to me that hype and the article did not happen in a vacuum in my mind. There is likely a connection.

 

But is it factual that the jacket actually belongs to Poe Dameron?

 

Almost like it was done on purpose, but I'll keep my tinfoil hat off for now.

 

Personally I think we are all desperate for news. I still think Rey will be Han and Leias kid. Finn and Pie will be relates to nobody from the OT.

I hope that the whole family thing is misdirection to keep us from some juicer plot device.

Also, this MAJOR LIFE ALTERING ANNOUNCEMENT is right up there with the segue. Meh.

 

I'm really at a loss for words with the speculation that Poe is Leia's son with someone other than Han. The movies set up one of the best loved couples in cinema. They have a huge fan base. Why can't Leia have a child from that relationship? What the hell is the point in creating a relationship with someone else when her relationship with Han is already established?? I'm just appalled that a so called fan of these films, JJ can potentially ruin what so many of us loved about the original trilogy. Some respect for the fans goes a long way, you know.

 

And that's why I haven't ridden a segue yet.

Well even though we really don't know jack, I can say one thing.

I remember what it was like before TPM came out. There was a lot of excitement, but this (for lack of a better word) fervor... this is on a whole 'nuther level.

I can honestly say that I've never been this excited about a movie in my life.

 

I really wouldn't be too worried about it. I think the hype created is fueling speculation that isn't true. I can't see them complicating Star Wars in this manner. It ret-cons things and adds way too much backstory necessary to clean it all up.

 

I don't mean any harm but:

In all fairness to everyone, the article doesn't say Poe is related to Leia nor does it say he is Leia's son.

It does however present foreshadowing in that Poe is Force sensitive.

 

so now Leia may have a love child with a new character but people still can't comprehend that Luke could have a kid as well

I would still like to know where this Leia and new droid scene comes from.

Also, how would this even make sense when Poe is present in the opening sequence and Leia doesn't show up until act 2?

Methinks we don't know as much about this movie as some believe we do.

 

How does it show Poe may be force sensitive?

 

What I find funny was on MSW's last podcast they specifically said they were tired of the parentage debate and topic and would be leaving it alone until something concrete is confirmed, yet they go ahead and post an article that puts the seeds out there for another potential parentage revelation and doesn't answer it.
