so the rumor of new female cast for Leia's daughter is true and Rey or Finn is her child. So Han/Leia are grandparents.

 

I'm calling it Rey is Han's granddaughter.
H/L son born a year after Endor gets a child himself 20 years later who is Rey which would make her 19 in VII.

 

Ignoring the debate over how many years have passed, that article, whilst not saying anything new, was a nice read.

Agreed - I like the angle they're are coming at the legacy characters from - through the eyes of the new characters.

 

Yeah, the release said about 30. I like it 35-40 so the actors are closer to the character ages.

I hope it's closer to 30, 40 seems to excessive and to big of a jump as I said it's almost 2 generations later and it's double the time between III and IV and add another 2 years to that.

 

I've always liked the idea of 36 years passing between Return of the Jedi and The Force Awakens. It matches the time that passes between The Phantom Menace and Return of the Jedi.

 

As long as the crawl doesn't indicate how many years have passed.

 

yeah, I prefer 30 years or even less otherwise we really need a PST.

 

I personally believe 36.72 years is optimal because as a Star Wars fan I must have an opinion.

Only that if the time jump is flip flopping or inconsistent, it could affect the story.

 

To be fair, later on in the article Abrams also says it's also been nearly 40 years since he/the audience has seen Ford, Fisher, and Hamill as Han, Leia, and Luke, so it does seem like he's rounding up a fair bit. I'd still bet it's closer to 30 than 40, but not 30 on the dot.

 

well the official site did say "set about 30 years later" that's not "it's set 30 years later" so it was never 30 years exact but like you said closer to that.
I think I saw a few times places saying it was set 32 years later,can't recall where? or is that 32 years from 1983 to 2015.

 

Making Luke and Leia almost 60 makes Rey being a Legacy character a bit weird. Daisy is low 20s but I believe Rey will be late teens in the movie. So what? Leia or Luke had her with almost 40 years? Could perfectly happen, but I don´t know. Just compare it to Anakin and Padme when they had Luke and Leia. On the other hand, if Kylo is 30 years old, Leia had him around her early 30s.

I really have no doubts Kylo is a Solo. It´s just crystal clear in my eyes.
