Character descriptions for the auditions out Kylo in his late 20s and Rey in her late teens. The age spread between them did seem a bit weird but who knows, maybe they just had a late baby or maybe the Solo daughter is actually the person they're casting for Ep 8. If that actress ends up being nearer to Drivers age, I would think that makes sense. In the EU, I believe H/L's kids were all born around when she was 30-ish.

 

I have a friend who just today gave birth at 43. I have another friend who is due at 41. Not that big of a deal. We're all career women and you see it all the time. I realize this is GFFA but I imagine Han and Leia did not have kids right after the Battle of Endor with everything going on. Padme and Anakin were impetuous and let passion rule their heads. That was part of their whole story. Whereas I think Han and Leia probably thought things through a bit more. Anyway, it's entirely possible they had a child later in life. That being said, I don't think it's 40 years after ROTJ anyway.

It doesn't seem excessive to me because I was always going with Lucas' statement that the ST involved Luke in his 60's. That to me always implied 35-40 years later depending on Luke's age in RotJ

 

yes, for men this is no problem, but the risk of a pregnancy rises with a higher age of a woman.

I'm assuming the short alien is Maz? Some of those are pretty hilarious.

 

if rey is a skywalker and she's only 19 it could still work with a 55 year old luke. he would have been 36 when she's born, or even younger depending on her age. the age gap between her and kylo would be similar to the age gap between luke and han so it'd make a lot of sense in that way too. I don't think there' going to make a big deal of whether or not luke is actually in his 60s or not. the idea is that he's old now.

if that is Maz I'm glad they ditched all of them she would have been a bit to Yoda like in size for my taste.

 

If Kylo is 30 then Leia would've given birth to him less than a year after ROTJ, at age 23 or 24.

Remember, Luke and Leia are 19 in ANH and 23 by ROTJ. They're 53 by TFA.

Women having kids in their 40's now is not uncommon in our society so it would be nothing in a more advanced place like the Star Wars Universe. I imagine Kylo is mid-twenties. Driver can pass for mid to late 20's easily. It's not that important anyways.

 

JJ is saying TFA is almost 40 years after ROTJ. That would mean at the very least 35 years after ROTJ.

TFA might be 40 years after ROTJ people have Rey as Hans grandaughter. So you know the sky is basically falling

 

that was my joke although 40 years later does make Rey as Han's granddaughter a possibility.
