    Hey guys,

    I'm in the middle of transferring the SAFF website to a Content Management System (CMS) that I have built.

    The advantages of this system include the CR, or anyone else that they authorise to have acces to update the news, without having to learn HTML. Updates would be written in a similar fasion to posting on the forums.

    Also, it would allow all of you to post your own profiles siply by filling in the blanks (similar to the way I demoed it a few years back).

    I'm hoping to have the site converted over in about a week or so.

    Why am I posting this now? I would like to know if there are any specific features/functions that need to be included in the CMS. I did build it, but I'm always updating it and adding new functions.

    So, any requests?

    Very cool, milney! I'm thinking skipp and yourself have been conversing about the changeover.

    One thing that is a good way to advertise what we do is photos. Is there space for a gallery for events? Even if it contained say, 10 best pics from an event?

    We have talked a little, mainly about the tech end of things.

    Photos are definately an option. I'll start working on it.

    I was sure I suggested something like this when I was saying the site hardly gets updated. 'twas a long time ago, in a webserver far far away.

    Nether-the-less, atleast the upgrades being done.

    For an organization such as this, I believe the following is appropriate.

    * Flash/Javascript chatroom
    * Gallery
    * rss feed from theforce.net?
    * links to a saff youtube group? (While writing this, it prompted me to make the group - http://www.youtube.com/group/safanforce )

    Although all this techno talk is way over my head, I'm sure it's all great!

    RSS feed from TF.N is cool. Keep us up to date with how it's going.

    Ok, the gallery function has been finished. The RSS feed is pretty easy to add. Ditto for links to youtube.

    The chatroom feature, I'll need to spend some time on that one.

    Oh, and I'm not sure about the quota - but a downloads section would be nice.

    While a Downloads section might be nice, what exactly would be put in it? Any pictures that someone might want to grab would already be available in the gallery, so unless somebody wanted to make some spiffy SAFF wallpapers, I'm not sure it'd be worth it.

    A 'cool links' page, with links to StarWars.com's character soundboards, or their fanfilm/popculture section would be rad though. Almost like an Affiliates page, but moreso just everything Star Wars related we deem to be something that needs mentioning. :)

    *ahem* I could very well give it a shot. I could also attempt a PS3 SAFF Theme. Lol.

    Ok, I should have the website ready for beta testing on the weekend.

    I'm trying to adapt the current template to the new system, but it may end up looking quite different.

    Sounds good!

    Is your CMS going to be an open source thing, or just something for yourself?
