The New Stories Index: December 2006

Welcome to the holiday season on boards.theforce.net's most entertaining board! This is The Saga and we're looking forward to your new stories for this great month of December!

My pre-New Year's Resolution is to avoid such things as bronchitis, food poisoning and term papers, all of which have been known to make me fall behind for a few days in updating this index.

I will try to update this index daily, and, at the end of the month, a link to this thread will be placed into the Fan Fiction Resource Forum's Master Index along with the Story Indexes from the two other fan fiction forums here at the Jedi Council.
The stories are added to the index in no real order. It is all completely random.

Now, just a refresher course on the format that will be followed for this. You can send me updates if you have more information forthcoming than what you put in your story.

I enjoy both reading and writing them, though I've always been reticent about the idea of publishing one, on the grounds that they are simply too weird. A Note from LovedAnakin: This abandoned fic has been handed over to my cousin, Anakins_kiss. I hope she can breathe life back into it and the interest the readers had. A Note from Anakins_kiss: Although this is a rewrite, I'll try to keep as much of the original work as possible. Padme is not pregnant in the beginning of this story but she will be soon. Please be aware that the many systems in the GFFA are represented in this fic as countries on the planet Earth, however the government will closely reflect reality. Even though this fic takes place in present day NYC, some elements of SW have remained such as blasters, lightsabers (obviously) and droids. BTW, in this fic, the US government is not bipartisan and the capital is not in D.C. It's in NY. The Jedi Temple is also in NY. And now it begins?

I began this story a few years back, directly after getting involved in doing the round robin "The Penitent" with Jedi Galadriel. I've never been able to really complete it until now and of course, until Revenge of the Sith finally came out. So, after a looooooooooong time of being away from the Boards and the fandom, I'm back, having completed and revised the fic.

Summary: A twisted Imperial scheme has led to the abduction of Bail Organa?s wife and toddler daughter, and so he must call upon Obi-Wan to leave his self-imposed exile and fulfill his promise to protect the children of Anakin Skywalker. However, rushing off to rescue Leia means leaving Luke unguarded on Tattooine?an act which turns out to be only the first of many personal and ethical dilemmas Obi-Wan must face. The galaxy he is returning to is not the one he left, and even a Jedi with the noblest of intentions may find himself walking a very thin line between darkness and light.

The story was originally meant to be a ?24? knockoff, although I?ve had to settle for cribbing the spirit, and not the format, of the show. Also, it has nothing whatever to do with Johnny Cash.
Other Notes: Due to severe time constraints in my life right now, this story is being written as a series of ?one hour wonders,? as described in this thread. Every sentence may not be a finely-crafted thing of beauty, but I do plan on including lots of angst and things that explode. I also have never yet abandoned a WIP, so fear not my frantic schedule.
Other Other Notes: I have included some background and characters that appear in my ?alternate EU,? which may be startling at first to people who haven?t seen them before. Don?t worry; they?re harmless?they?re all housebroken, and they won?t claw the chairs.

Please note that this is an AU and will have strong language from a few of the characters. Mainly Padmé, Sabé, and a few OCs. Notes: This is an Imperial Perspective story. You'll see some of the more famous Rebel characters on scene during the battle, but through the eyes of a trooper.

Now, I want to note that sources state that 501st troopers were only ever clones. The trooper depicted in this story is not a clone but a replacement. I find it hard to believe that after the Death Star, the 501st was able to replenish all of their forces with JUST clones. Seeing as how clones started to phase out towards the start of A New Hope. Anywho, I've placed this character into the storyline still following the sources. This will be explained later on in additional updates.

This is part one of two or three. I haven't finished the story completely, but I do know where it is going. Depended upon my next "part" or chapter, we'll see how long this gets. ALL comments, questions, and suggestions are absolutely encouraged. This story marks my third posted on the forums, and there's at least three more to come (not to mention finishing this one and my "novel" Height of an Empire).

So with that, I give you the Imperial story of one trooper in possibly the greatest Star Wars battle ever... Hoth.

That's not the intention here. The story follows one man's quest to go home (hence the title ) and it entertains what that exactly means to some people. Always remember: the human mind is an incredibly powerful thing and the only thing that limits someone is their imagination. The story is set eight years after the fall of the Republic.
