The next Novel Contract - Updates from Sue (Spoilers Allowed) (Announced!)

Yep, Rogue - as you say, there's no shortage of SW for 2009 but nothing there grabs my attention.

It's strange really, as I do love the concepts behind the Clone Wars, that they were designed to both destroy the Jedi and create the Empire in everything but name, but I cannot get behind the revised continuity having bought the previous stories and greatly enjoyed them.

Others can weigh in better but we've Anakin being a master earlier and having a Padawan.

Sure, as fans, we can make that work, fixes will be created but I cannot be bothered to do that, if LFL is going to be cavalier about this, then I feel obliged to reciprocate that.

 

To me that is over written. And blah, blah, blah. Sorry...

Quest, I get the testing the waters thing, but I'm all for just jumping right in. A one-shot, to me, confines the scope of the story. It would be like if Zahn had done a one-shot on TTT -- it would be a whole different ballgame.

Yeah, me too. I didn't actually expect to be so excited about this contract, but I'm excited about very large chunks of it.

I think the last one on the list looks pretty sweet. The Alex Irvine is probably the one that excites me the most at this point, but there is a lot of wonderful goodness on that list. The Darth Bane novel... meh. And I'm pretty meh about the IC books and the Boba Fett book, as well, though it seems likely the last will deal with some of the stuff left over from LotF. FotJ actually sounds interesting, more than I expected it to.

 

My first reaction upon seeing this was: FACE?

 

Nomi, Bane, and Fett interest me the most. We might just find out what's happened to them! My guess is that this will be all three of their final appearances. Nomi might survive, though, depending on the comics.

Catherine - yeah, that was my reaction as well. When it was posted over in the actual Alex Irvine book thread, I went, "WHUH?" Apparently it's finally been cleared up.

 

No way they'd let anyone but Allston tackle that.

That's true, but right now I'm much more excited for the stand-alones than FOTJ, we have a lot of interesting books coming up.

 

Maybe I'm being naive, but I'm actually looking forward to the Fate of the Jedi series. Or rather, I'm looking forward to that first one, based on the brief description. After that, I'll wait and see.

 

I'm looking forward to them too, despite what happened with the last 9-book series, its just that the standalones (namely the Nomi Sunrider and Jaden Korr novels) have peaked my interest more than FOTJ so far.

 

I'm enthusiastic across the board. If anything it's the "horror" I'm the least jazzed about. I can't wait for Outcast.
