Although it doesn't have any unique info, and is basically a picture book for five-year-olds, I'd assume that the Encyclopedia on starwars.com is a legit source of the "new canon." The only non-narrative one we have so far --- that is, if you're familiar with Wookieepedia, it would be the only thing from the new canon to go into a "Sources" rather than an "Appearances" section.

Also you left out the original TCW film!

Oops! I mentally conceptualize the TCW film as 4 episodes from Season 1 (because it makes the movie more bearable), which is why i forgot it- fixing now!

May I propose that we continue to call the old EU the EU, and the new 'canon' EU the nEwU?

Conflicted feelings. Long days at work. I also got sucked into a lot of Star Trek fan rendered videos on youtube, so that took up some time. Had to watch Cosmos and Game of Thrones. John Oliver's new HBO show is basically like getting an extra episode of The Daily Show every week. It added up.

I'm operating under the assumption that the EU will still be the EU and that the NU, by being deemed absolute canon, isn't technically an EU, thus why it gets a new designation. If that changes by official statement, I'll revise the terms being used here.

That's a curious case- I don't think we can judge that much yet- how they're approaching reference sources in general we haven't been given any indication of yet (what about that Wallace Imperial book that was announced, for example?), though if a detail or source becomes questionable canon, that could be a legit means of confirmation.

This is the list I made up for my own purposes. Due to the non-chronological nature of The Clone Wars' broadcasts, I listed each episode individually, according to the order provided by Leland Chee on Twitter and the Official Episode Guide by Jason Fry. For the sake of formatting, The Clone Wars film is included under its original episode titles: "The New Padawan," "Castle of Deception," "Castle of Doom," and "Castle of Salvation." The inter-trilogy titles are simply placed in alphabetical order for now, since we don't have firm dates on them.

It'll be interesting to see what role Insider plays in the new canon. It's been a source of unique EU info for years, both in short story form and in reference article form (The History of the Mandalorians, etc). I wonder if it'll keep up a similar role, or whether it will enter another few years of top-ten-lists-galore dark ages.

Awesome, I was planning on doing that eventually (especially if sources that take place between episodes , like TCW comics, are canonized). Thanks, it saves me some trouble :). I'll edit those in tomorrow.

But they're pretty. With lovely music.

Glad I could help. I'm kind of an obsessive list-maker, and a timeline junkie since I was little. I like seeing how everything fits together; it's like a narrative puzzle.

Since you seem to be a Star Trek fan, I'll share. When I was a teenager, one of the ways I coped with stress was by working out my own Star Trek timeline. I had decided that the one the Okudas released wasn't accurate enough. I had an ex try to diagnose me as autistic because of this behavior; I don't think I am, but it is an oddly soothing pass-time.

I'll throw out mine again - LEU (there's your toilet sound gone, 2ndQuest) for the "legendary" EU; and NU for the "neu universe" since there really isn't an "EU", as it's all one universe (yeah, I don't buy it, but let's humor them); also, because I like the obscure reference to Marvel's earliest attempt to create a... well, "new universe".

Considering SW is only one of many settings that I do this for, I hope that doesn't mean I'm completely insane. (If it does, I'm still doing it, but it'll be good to know).

Well, there's nothing insane about being autistic (though insane is really more of a legal term than a medical one). I just don't think I am. Autistic, I mean. Or insane, for that matter, though I haven't been charged with anything to need to argue that one. :p

I remain shocked that INSIDER is still going, but there will always be ways to fill content, especially with the movies coming up.

If they're smart they'll get away from letting articles dictate canon, and if they are going the hyper-inclusive route then they will want to be very careful what they consider canon and what they let through.

Hm, is Insider still printing short stories? Just curious if any short stories Insider publishes from now on will count as Legends or not, since the third Empire and Rebellion book hasn't been shoved into the Legends category due to its fortunate publishing date.

Off-topic- I remember glancing through one issue of Insider once and they had one of those Q&A things that said Yoda has never been to Dagobah before Episode III. I promised myself never to buy another issue after that. And turns out that Q&A is even more worthless now after TCW decided otherwise. :p

We could call the old EU the good EU and the new EU the post-Ultimatum EU? Hm, nah, that's too severe. :p Though I never actually read Ultimatum or touched an Ultimate comic in years, but from what I've heard, doesn't sound like I missed much.

Hm, speaking of Insider, wonder how much will be left, considering there's basically no EU left to cover, and there's only so many interviews they can squeeze into one issue.

The old Insider was always the exception. The standard for these types of magazines is the production of zero content information raised to an art form.

This is a great idea. Maybe as the new books come out, we can make a list of the Legends stories and "grade" them based on how much they contradict the "absolute cannon".

I don't see why we need to call the 'new EU' EU at all. It's not expanding on anything, it's a part of the neo-Lucas/Disneyverse.

Well, I guess if 'everything onscreen' is now canon, better squeeze the Droids, and Ewoks cartoons in there somewhere. Oh and the Holiday Special. Don't forget the Holiday Special. ;)

The adaptation/novelization issue would be my top question at this point as well- they've long held a unique place in canon heirarchys. But if they were to ever change that policy, now would be the time.

I'm not going to over-complicate it unless its necessary. If we can use a two letter abbreviation, it's better than three and keeps things similar to the way they have been.

And LEU still sounds like "loo" if you try to pronounce it.

    Indeed- part of the fun.

New Disney EU? More like P.U. amirite? *cough*

I am curious to see what Disney now calls it. I could suspect a lot of confusion if we (collective we) still insist on the old EU being called "EU" while Disney starts calling their new tripe the "EU". Seems to be setting itself up for unnecessary argument.

It all depends on how technical they want to get with the usage of the EU term- if they continue to use it to describe the NU material, I'll adjust the usage accordingly.
