Endol You've probably seen it somewhere already, but Academy Cadets occurs between "Legends of the Lasat" and "The Call." I also got the confirmation that the C.O. on Imvur is Viggen from the previous comic.

The latest Rebels comic is out (1 day early in the UK which was a nice surprise at Tesco)

    called: Escaping the Scrap Pile

This is a Chopper centric comic telling the tale of the (mis)adventure when after encountering a star destroyer the Ghost had a hull breach forcing Hera to jettison its contents which included Chopper! Hera picks up his trail and try to find him, much to Zeb's bemusement.

meanwhile we find that Chopper has landed on a scrap pile planet. He is found by a small green alien (which I think is new to star wars - I recall the artist saying that she was excited to design something new). The alien has already removed Chop's shock pads and commands his brute henchman to take Chop for cataloguing.

in a factory, Chop is being interrogated/restrained when they come across that he has access to a secret rebel base and other rebel information. Realising this was worth a fortune, the alien tells his friend call Bidvel of this. at this point Chop breaks free and hits his thruster to escape knocking over Bidvel in the process.

he doesn't get particularly far but enough time to do something.....

He is stunned by our alien friend he tells Chopper that he will now be incinerated with the help of big claw thing. as he is preparing it, a scrap imperial droid suddenly wakes up, followed by a McQuarrie style C3PO, medical droid, gonk droid, another astromech and commando droid. they all want revenge on the alien who summaries that Chopper must have got the activation codes during his escape.

the droids apprehend the alien just as the Ghost crew show up. the droids beg Chop to stay as his leader, but they realise that the ghost crew need a leader themselves and that should be Chopper!. End.

A fun story this with references to the secret rebel base. I really like the protocol droid that is exactly the same as mcquarrie art, although a bit tongue in cheek that we are on a scrap planet. But at least its canon now!

A bit late but the latest Rebels comics is now out entitled: The Gangsters of Galzez

The story picks up with Ezra, Hera, Chopper and Sato on board the blockade runner, Liberator. They have been hit by the Empire and suffering from an engine leak causing them to land on the planet Galzez. Hera brings down the ship, which is immediately under surveillance by the Syvik Delegation - a group of Dugs. They recognise the ship as rebels from holonet broadcasts and realise they could be in for a fortune.

After landing and Hera making repairs and waiting for the Ghost to pick them up, Ezra gets a feeling about something and encounters the gangsters. they take out an unnamed rebel before taking cover. Ezra then goes all Kanan, and stands to fight the oncoming blasters with his lightsaber. Ezra is able to take out a few dugs before grabbed and binders attached to his hands.

Rokeg, the leader of the delegation escort Ezra back to the liberator as a hostage. Rokeg talks to Sato (now on the ship) over comm who decides to leave Ezra on the planet, now the ship is fixed.

a while later the liberator comes back hovering over the dug's base, disabling communications. Sato demands that ezra is released or they will destory their base. Rokeg believes he is bluffing before Sato unleashes the ships power on their base. Rokeg changes his mind and releases Ezra.

they all escape before Sato reveals that he was held captive by that gang before and knew he could out think them.

back with the rebels, the rest of the Ghost crew meet up to find Zeb covered in green paint = he doesnt want to talk about it!

Wikipedia has an updated timeline of canon media .

The latest Rebels comic is out - Puffer Problems

This is a Lando comic!! Lando in on a ship called the Stellar Sun enroute to the planet Klonoid to collect some droid parts. Lando is flirting with the captain called Rikarda, of the ship. He then contacts Willie to check on his farm on Lothal. Willie informs him the bad news - the Varluk Organisation has come to the farm and stolen his Puffer Pig!

Lando tells his pilot to detour to the planet Zyzar. Upon arrival Lando infiltrates the headquarters by battling with a guard and dresses in his outfit - that all chesnut!
however when locating his puffer pig, he is caught and brought to the leader, Ango Croom.

Lando is able to escape by tussling with the pig causing it to inflate bigger and bigger. He gets back to the ship and takes off not before leaving the organisation a present - locations of all raw materials for the group -thereby wiping off his debt he had with the gang.

a very self contained storyline, a fun tale too.

By chance, does anyone own the kiddie book Star Wars: Bounty Hunt? Apparently, it has something of a story (some documents have been stolen from the Death Star, the Imperials suspect a traitor, and Bossk is hired to find the thief).

Yes, I have this book the only other canon young readers book with a new story.
Written by Katrina Pallant. It stars Bossk arriving in his hounds tooth ship on the death star.
On board he meets with imperials who tell him that important documents have been stolen. They're comments from other imperials a bout the whereabouts of Droid 261.

Bossk gets back on his ship and listens into imperial transmissions who have noted a shuttle being piloted by an astromech is headed to Tattaoine. He follows and lands in Mos Eisley.
Goes to cantina, then to jabba palace, then to jawas where he finds the Droid.

    End

I haven't opened all the flaps to save integrity, but placement wise happens just before A New Hope!

Endol Mind if I ask more questions?

What type of droid is 261? What happens at the end when Bossk finds the droid (does he bring ti back to the Empire or something)? How can you tell about the placement?

In fact, I'd be grateful if you could help me fill out the appearances section of the Wookieepedia article.

Not a problem. I wrote that on my phone, quite hastily and planned on fleshing it out a bit.

The book itself is a series of double page spreads a bit like the Locations book recently released in that there are snippets about the location Bossk is in.
It is a comic book style.

Page 1 - The Bounty Hunter
shows the Hounds Tooth arrive on the death star. "Bossk a fearless Trandoshan who travels the universe collecting bounties for a variety of clients is on the hunt for his next job. This bounty hunter is one of the best in the business and no target is too difficult.

Page 2-3 - The Death Star
On board the DS, Bossk meets with imperial officers to be briefed on a sensitive issue. some important docs have been stolen and Bossk is tasked with finding the thief.

This is the first double page spread and is a great piece of art. quite how "canon" these pictures are, remains to be seen. So they show different rooms on the DS including Tarkin and Motti on one level, prisoners on another, Vader leaving with a probe droid on another and importantly, a randome officer asking where is droid number 261.

    Page 4-5 - Imperial Fleet
Bossk jumps in the Hounds Tooth and takes off, hoping to catch the droid before he enters hyperspace. as her exits the DS's atmosphere, he finds himslef amongst a fleet of the Empire's starships.
Bossk tunes in the star destoyers frequency where they report the shuttle has been stolen and headed to Tatooine and is piloted by an astromech droid.

Page 6-7 - Mos Eisley Spaceport
Landing on the desert planet on Tatooine, Bossk spots the stolen ship in Mos Eisley spaceport the shuttle has crashed injuring stormtroopers and civilians the droid is nowhere to be seen.

Another great piece of artwork here with a birds eye view of Mos Eisley. Lots of berths showing the crashed shuttle, the Millennium Falcon seemingly taking off, skyhoppers in dock but also three podracers with a note about how dangerous racing is.

    Page 8 - 9 - Mos Eisley Cantina
Knowing that the droid is damaged and will be looking for new parts, Bossk talks to the street vendors before heading into the cantina for refreshment.

So we are now at our famous cantina and shows Bossk asking the bartender. Greedo is in the corner (with gun), there is also an amusing scene outside with 3 Jawa's harrassing a stormtrooper (TK-486)

    Page 10 - 11 - Jabba's Palace
At a dead end, Bossk heads to the palace of the gangster Jabba the Hutt. If anyone has information on the droid, he will.

Nothing of great interest here. Jabba is here with Boba Fett and the band.

    Page 12 - 13 - Jawa sandcrawler
Bossk tracks the Jawa's across the desert. Those scavengers arent getting their hands on his bounty!

Shows Bossk confronting a group of Jawa's outside their sandcrawler.

Page 14 - Jank Jawa Heap
Bossk has come to the end of his mission and will escort the crafty droid back to the empire.

Readers are then invited to lift the flap to find the offending droid. It is an astromech, no official number other than the 261 from the earlier pages.Cream dome head and blue body.

    PLACEMENT
In terms of placement, it is tricky as its unclear as to what we are seeing and reading is canon.

So for example the Death Star page has some great scenes going on, a few stormtroopers sitting on the edge by the weapon as a homage to the lack of safety rail. In an amongst that it shows as said Darth Vader, Tarkin and others. There is no Bossk in that page whereas when he is with the Jawas and in the cantina.

On Mos eisley, we see the MF take off but Greedo is still alive etc. this all suggest that this is before ANH.

the main point i picked up on is that the failure by the droid to enter hyperspace suggests that at some point, the DS was around Tatooine. I cant recall where is was during ANH.
placement could be critical depending on rogue 1 too.

    hope that helps!

I also have this book, and another way to pin it down date wise is the appearance of R5-DW

(I also hate the fact that I have this book, but like Endol said it's a new story......and I'm commityed to owning every bit of narrative in physical form)

Well, I like Rob M Ball's illustrations, though. So, Endol, the droid thief is an astromech, right? Like an R2 or something else? Any ties with the Rebels implied?

@LelaMekha - yes the illustrations are good and I like the nods to the podracers. Droid 261 is an R2 unit insofar that it looks identical to R2D2 just with a different pain job.

there are no links to rebels and no information as to why this droid when rogue and stolen the information that he did.
