You know it's funny and hypocritical that there isn't a "Post your complaints about the sequel trilogy" thread but oh well. The great thing about Rogue One is that it doesn't have a deja-vu/after-the-fact feel about it. The sequel trilogy is the very definition of the term meh. Sure the last jedi took some risks but it still manages to feel very much like the day after a great big party. It's just a gigantic unenergetic turd.

Since I just watched TLJ for the first time recently....

I liked that a bad guy used the "blow them up from the inside" trick that the good guys are known for.

R2 playing that Leia message really worked on me, it was actually a good use of nostalgia as it was nostalgic for the character it was aimed at.

I liked Kylo's blackened scar, I thought they should have kept it.

"You didn't fail Kylo, Kylo failed you". I love that line.

    lol evil BB-8!

I admit I really enjoyed the TIE Fighter Attack music with the Falcon on Crait.

Crystal foxes. And the design of Canto Bight. And the crystal cave the Falcon flies through in that shot that was in the trailer. They should have had a battle in there, or otherwise featured it.

Finn, let me learn you something big. It's all a machine, partner. Live free, don't join.
Rey, I want you to join me. We can rule together and bring a new order to the galaxy.

Luke: I'm going to burn it down.
    Yoda: Skywalker...missed you, have I.
*Spark from lightning burns the Jedi Tree (fire all around)*
Luke: So it is time...that the Jedi are to end.
Yoda: Time, it is. For you to look past a pile of old books...
Yoda: Luke... we are what they grow beyond. That is the true burden of all masters.

Poe: No, no. We are the spark that will light the fire that will burn the First Order down. Skywalker's doing this so we can survive.

Luke's burden, eventually lifted by his greatest sacrifice. A True Jedi!

While they aren't my favorites the ST films have been some of the most visually pleasing movies I've seen. They are both awesome movies in terms of effects, cinematography, and fight choreography.

I think the design of the Star Fortress Bomber is pretty good. I can visualize it in an SW themed flight simulator where TIE-IN fly around it shooting down A-wings and whatnot. The gun turrets and obtuse form make for interesting trajectories.

Only scene I've really loved so far is that little section in TLJ when Luke tells Rey to focus on the life around her and she senses the peace and struggle of environment. A sublime moment, in line with my favorite quiet moments from the existing I-VI saga.

Of the ST so far some of my favorite moments are in TFA

Rey's opening scene with the accompanying theme by JW
Rey & Kylo saber battle StarKiller base
Luke at the end of TFA and Jedi Steps theme by JW

    In TLJ
Anything to do with Chewie and the Porgs

Just realized I hadn't posted my favorite TFA moments in the renamed thread (my TLJ ones are in the first couple of pages.)

    1. FN2187's Crisis of Conscience on Jakku: Introduced me to my favorite film character, and all through non-verbal physical acting while wearing a suit of armor, simple, evocative imagery with the bloody fingerprints, and John Williams's music. And with a great, simple, and easy to empathize with emotional core: imagine doing your duty, only to in one horrid moment suddenly realize that your job is evil, and that doing it would make you evil, and that your companions have been dying to see evil done.

    2. Rey's Force Vision. Great, intriguing, and dynamic visuals that call back to some stuff, tease future reveals, and foreshadow the coming battle on SKB. Honestly, Kylo Ren's intimidation factor goes up a few dozen notches for me when you see him flanked by the other Knights of Rem while presiding over a massacre, then sensing Rey and stalking towards her. It's a great narrative tease for the audience, and honestly seems like it might genuinely traumatize even someone as tough and cool as Rey.

    3. The Duels on Starkiller Base. Great "wrestling psychology" throughout used with Kurosawa-esque cinematography, with a great use of the light and shadows of the snowy forest and the lightsabers giving everything a different shade of blue or red. Kylo clearly has the advantages, but constantly starts accumulating injuries to build tensions. Finn completes his arc from the simple Stormtrooper who silently said "no" to committing atrocities and barely warranted Kylo's attention to the Resistance Big Deal screaming "Come get it!" and charging the 6 ft 5in madman who had to draw his attention back because Finn was focusing on the more important thing... His friend. And then, after just barely tagging Kylo, Finn gets filleted, only for Rey to RISE TO FIGHT KYLO! Seriously, this one did get cheering at 4 out of my 5 viewings in theater.

Yeah, IMO Jj is a Master in this kind of scenes.
Another example that I find amazing is the way he introduces Rey. Those seven minutes are just perfect. He gives us everything we need to know about her without the need of dialogues.

Han Solo having as big a role as he did in TFA was nice and somewhat unexpected.
I like the idea of the mind-reading battle that Rey and Kylo Ren had.
