You sure put a lot of effort into this thread Everton. It would be a shame to see it locked.

Perhaps yours can be used by the Euros and Femis can be used by the rest of the world.

The mods knew this was coming - as did, everyone in TBG thread. I relied on convention, and trusted that nobody would post one first. I'm sure Femi will have the grace to let this one be.

One of the US goalkeepers is from Everton. How ever shall I LOL?

Also: there seem to be a few reeeeeeeeeeeeeally tough Groups. A, C, D, F...

    It' certainly an interesting situation.

I think the first favorite on paper is Brazil, then maybe Spain. A Final between those two should be pretty sweet, but I've been wanting to see a major Spain-Brazil Final for years, we were *this close* in the Confederations Cup, maybe the same thing will happen this time. [face_worried]

The Netherlands are another good bet. I'd be pretty happy should they finally win it. They're undefeated since the last major tournament and they have two guys in their squad to were instrumental in both squads of the Champions League Finalists this year.

Argentina have a decent shot going by their team's raw talent, but then they also have Maradona's coaching.

I see England getting to the semis on paper. But there's always *something* that nobody expects at these tournaments so paper predictions aren't really especially meaningful. So they could conceivably do better or worse without much being different.

I had also suspected Germany would reach the Semi's at least, but they seem to be going through endless pre tournament troubles.

I'd say the "favorites" in descending order are:

    1. Brazil
    2. Spain
    3. Netherlands
    4. Ummmm...I dunno. Italy? England?

G is the only really tough group.

Group E is kind of tricky aswell. And some of them don't have the same groups strength as G but have a difficult outcome to predict, like Group A.

Yeah. Group D doesn't run it close, but it's a good tight group.

Netherlands deserve to win it at least one, they're too good not to. Like Spain they have under-achieved for years despite their immense talent. But Spain finally won a big tournament, so maybe the Dutch can too.

England have a good enough team to get far, but Germany & Italy should not be discounted even if their teams are having trouble.

France can still be a threat. They may have a lot of injury problems and not been performing so well in recent times, but they did get to the final of the last World Cup despite similar problems.

    Awesome thread, Everton.
Or instead we'll get a Spain-Brazil round of 16 match. One upset by one of the two teams and they're nearly guaranteed to face each other.

So with Sweden not even in it this time I'm going to cheer for Denmark, and since I always like to go for the underdog I'm hoping that neither Brazil nor France wins.

That's probably the least painful way to deal with the tournament if you're from New Zealand. NZ, Honduras and North Korea will have their own little mini-league to see who'll concede the most goals...

I'm suprised those teams actually managed to qualify.

I would think that North Korea are likely to win the "most goals conceded" contest if there were one. They are in the so-called "group of Death" with Brazil, Portugal & Ivory Coast.

Funniest thing is, Kim Jong Il has said he'll only air North Korea's matches if they win :p
