    guardian on Walcott omission.

Must say I really miss hearing d_b's take on this given he was a huge Walcott fan.

EDIT: At Germany's daily press conference today, they announced that they'll announce who the loser who got cut is at 8 tonight (CET). Still can't believe the fools will most likely take Dennis Aogo but not Mats Hummels.

I'll lol if Walcott is out after having 4 years with the Arsenal first team after being included by Sven at the last WC with first team experience in the Prem. But really, the boy can't cross a ball. SWP has well. Exact same end product.

I'm honestly surprised that Sven didn't include Bobby Charlton in his squad for his experience.

    In that case, lol.

Why isn't Capello announcing this? If he's already told the players, what's the holdup?

    @yankee: lol. Again.

EDIT: With Carrick in, the last four names out will most likely read: Huddlestone, Parker, Dawson and then one from Baines/Warnock. All the talk is that Baines will be the one to miss out there.

I'd have taken Walcott over SWP. SWP is useless.

Apparently, Dawson is in, and King is out. Apparently.

EDIT: JR's post isn't the source of my apparent news. But his source is.

See, I know where you're coming from but I disagree with you. He certainly can cross a ball, it's his consistency in that area that has been the problem. However, it has certainly improved recently and Becks had taken him under his wing, which could have had real benefits once they both got to SA. Sadly for Theo, 'tis not to be.

I would certainly have taken him ahead of SWP though, because he has raw pace which, coming off of the bench, could have proved devastating against tiring opponents. Plus, when he cuts inside with that pace, we all know his potential to do damage; evidence the hat-trick Croatia match.

    Shame.

Consistency is huge though. It's why weekend golfers are **** even though they hit a number of really great shots in a round. I agree that he should be taken instead of SWP. Their end product is the same but as you say Walcott does have the ability to make an impact of the bench. SWP doesn't. Walcott is like a world class version (relatively speaking of course) of SWP.

Plus all of Walcott's experience from the last WC has been wasted now.

EDIT: maybe Rio got a Fabio soundalike to merk Walcott.

Perhaps it was SWP's connections (having a famous dad) that got him some leverage over Walcott. Although Capello doesn't seem the kind of guy who would be easily pushed into making decisions he doesn't want to make.

So, so glad that Walcott has been left out, because maybe it'll be the kick up the backside he needs in order to become the player everyone wants him to be. He seemed pretty complacent earlier when he was talking about how he 'deserved' to go this time.

What was he gonna do, threaten on Live From Studio Five? Hit him with one of his golf clubs? Ian Wright's about as menacing as a potato.

So SWP, who can't get a game at City, due to being replaced by the outstanding Adam Johnson, is going to the WC ahead of his teammate.

    Funny one, that.

    EDIT:
    EDIT, EDIT:
    So there we have it.

    Goalkeepers
Robert Green, Joe Hart, David James
    Defenders
Jamie Carragher, Ashley Cole, Rio Ferdinand, Glen Johnson, Ledley King, John Terry, Matthew Upson, Stephen Warnock
    Midfielders
Gareth Barry, Michael Carrick, Joe Cole, Steven Gerrard, Frank Lampard, Aaron Lennon, James Milner, Shaun Wright-Phillips
    Forwards
Peter Crouch, Jermain Defoe, Emile Heskey, Wayne Rooney

Not awful. The only ones I don't agree with are Upson, Carrick and Wright-Philips. I'd have taken Dawson, Parker and Johnson personally.

I'd have left Walcott out. Didn't think Capello would though.

EDIT: [face_plain] @ Heskey, and Dawson not making it (although I can't really see who else would've been left out for him).

Why does that not surprise me. :p

    Agreed.

I'd have left out Upson and taken Johnson and left out SWP and taken Theo (but the latter is not surprising either. :p).

    Shame about Johnson.

    Not sure about Walcott.

EDIT: I spent all day Twitter watching. It's good following all the journo's.
