    I got a shirt that says “May the Forest Be With You.” Because any slogan that can combine hiking and Star Wars is both awesome and worth putting on a T-shirt. And the profits go to the National Park Service.

    I also got running clothes and wine.

    I realized something watching "A Christmas Story" at my brother's house. Remember when adult Ralphie is describing that evil so-and-so Scut Farkas? "He had yellow eyes!" And how he was always accompanied by his apprentice bully, Grover Dill? And how after chasing off the kids, they were punching each other? Like one was trying to take down the other?

    It hit me...Ralphie beat up Hohman, Indiana's own Sith Lord! With his bare hands! While shouting obscenities!

    Ralphie, the Force was with you...always.

    My dad and stepmother pledged to help pay for my legal name and gender marker changes. (Because of reasons, I have to pay to replace all my documents twice--once for the name, once for the gender marker.) My sister Andrea even helped me fill out most of the (complicated and annoying) forms. Most trans people get hassled by their families at Christmas, if not outright rejected. I am SO lucky to be related to these people. The line at the bottom of the "check" says "Costs and fees associated with legally becoming who you are."

    P.S. I think the account numbers at the bottom of the check are fake. :(

    It may be only October but my Sainsburys supermarket has an aisle that's half Halloween stuff (candy, a few costumes) and half Christmas stuff (mostly candy).
