Eh, I disagree. I think Grievous has been Flanderized in a way. Simply because a person has cowardly traits doesn't mean that they are completely a coward. In fact, it takes quite a bit of courage on the part of Grievous or Cad Bane to throw themselves against fully trained Jedi Knights. Simply because they retreat when the odds turn against them doesn't make them a coward, it makes them smart. Heck, our beloved heroes in both the PT and OT do the exact same thing. Food for thought.
You do have a point there. I don't think Grievous and Bane are completely cowardly or anything. Heck Scar from The Lion King definitely had more cowardly traits than both of them put together. And yes it does take guts for a Bounty Hunter to take on not one but two Jedi Knights. It also takes guts to take over an entire Senate Wing and hold a bunch of Senators hostage. Yes Cad Bane does have some serious guts. And I pointed out that he is not the only villain who escapes all the time. Yet at the same time he's acting all courageous now, but I wonder how he would act if he was A) Cornered by an angry Anakin and B) Had no advantages up his sleeves like he did in Cargo of Doom. Would he act in a similar way to Scar or would he act differently? Who knows. Guess we are going to have to watch the rest of TCW and find out.
To me, he didn't seem as cold and calculating the the Hardeen arc compared to S2. That said, I wasn't a huge fan of the character then either.
Ah. I thought Bane seemed as cool (double meaning =b) as ever in the Rako Hardeen arc. The way he just shot people in the scene on Naboo when the bounty hunters were invading the hanger. I also liked how it fleshed out a small sense of honor in "The Box". - "If your gonna kill 'em do it like a man." - He did lose it when he was apprehended. I hope Bane's next appearance isn't about a vendetta with Obi-wan. I'm expecting he'll next appear with Boba under his wing given the artwork Filoni sold on eBay. I miss his old suit though.
Yeah, his old outfit was my favorite. Having said that, he is definitely one of my favorites on the show; such a badass villain and one of the most dangerous and cunning opponents the Jedi have faced. I will be disappointed if he doesn't show up at all during S5 since he's been a part of every season so far.
Cad Bane is easily the best villain in the show right now next to Maul. He's cunning, deadly, and proven. Has the advantage of being an OC so you can legitly root for or against him. He's done more damage to the republic in four seasons than we've even seen the war cause.
Cad Bane's list of accomplishments. -Held entire senate hostage -Successfully negotiated release of the criminal -Injured Anakin -Kicked the -Stole Jedi Holocron -Killed a buttload of clones -Successfully stole Republic star fighter -Started a prison riot -Broke out of this prison multiple times! -Killed more clones -Caused hundreds of criminals to escape (?) -Cause Fox to get demoted to grounds keepers -Nearly successfully kidnapped the Chancellor -I'll bet he has already escaped again. Witin TCW itself, what other villain is shown to be that successful? =p
"Hostage Crisis". Remember Anakin just lying on the floor there before he finally got up and cut the hole in the floor? Ok, it wasn't Bane who did that directly but he was leading the group. Grievous vs Bane score card: 2 / 14. Counting killing a Jedi and blowing up that power station on Coruscant.
He killed Old Daka, other Nightsisters, and Zombie nightsisters. Killed clones. Saved Count Dooku's life. Captured two Jedi Council members. Destroyed Hondo's base. Captured Hondo. Killed General Tarpals. Killed Gha Nachkt
How many Star Destroyers has Cad Bane been responsible for the destruction of? How many Force-sensitive witches has he butchered to the point of their clan's extinction?
Was destroying the Nightsisters much of a contribution to anything? Same with Hondos base and possibly killing Tarpals. Grievous looked horrible in the episode where that happened. Cad Bane would never be dragged into the dirt by Gungans. They have kicked the same amount of Jedi ass. =b Cad Bane has the best on screen track record of any character in TCW wearing the villain label.
If we're just counting damage, Grievous did more damage in the Malevolence arc alone than Bane has done the entire series. This is one of those inane geek arguments, though. Though I have to agree that Bane has come off as the most competent villain on the show.
