Canada The ***OFFICIAL*** Cananda General Board Banner Contest

Hello everyone !

YJN has given me the go ahead for a banner Contest for Canada General. This contest is open to Canadians and anyone that loves this country

The contest details are as follows::

-This constest will follow the guide lines shown here.
-Banner makers will post their hard work in this thread.
-The banner should have some things that most Canadians identify to. (Hockey, the Canadian Flag, etc. ).
-It's a SW message board, so SW should be mentioned.
-The top 3 banners, determined by you, the users, will be rotated every few months.
-The prize, so far, is the title of banner maker

One last thing have fun

Curve image - 69 x 69
Side Bar image - 32 x 465
Post Reply image - 437 x 88
Left and Right adholders - 74 x 58

What is Post Reply image? I see the post reply link as normal text.
Also, what is the difference between the 1st 2 parts? They are both the same size and all.

 

This is the post reply image.

The banner is the thing in the top left that says Fanforce Canada, and has the Walker with the guy skiing. The background appears to the right of it on high-res monitors.

This is the banner and this is the background. They should be the same size. As you can see, the current background is not the correct size. The screenshot I posted above shows what happens when that error is made.

Personally, my favourite part of the current scheme is the "FANFORCE CANADA" lettering. Banner makers, don't change that!

 

thnx Admiral_Thrawn60, I understand the part about the top images now, but I'm still a little niffy on the post reply image. I saw your link but where does this image appear on the page in its entirety?
Do I need to blend this image with another one (like the top images)?

Hit the post reply link. When the screen comes up where you type your reply, look just below the banner. That's it, sandwiched between the banner and "Canadian FanForce RSA Contacts: English Speaking - YoungJediNiagara | French Speaking - Uilmuteiz"

No problem. Are you planning to give it a shot? I'm considering making a banner. I have a few ideas. I'm not very good with photoshop though.

 

If I had the time, I would make one... but everything seems to be draining it away

I use Paint shop pro, its very similar to photoshop but about $700 cheaper

I've started messing around in photoshop . . . I'm staring to get pieces together . . . I'm tempted to through in a Vong as a trade mark thing

 

What version of Photoshop do you have. I have both 6.0.2 and 7.0. Awesome programs.

 

7.0 at the moment and I'll be getting 8 in the near future.

You need a graphics program like Adobe's Photoshop or Jasc's Paint Shop Pro, then you design it by puting together images, creating original images from scratch, blending them together, adjusting aspects, and just using your imagination to make it original and good looking.

 

Oh, the problem with the banner not being "hig-res friendly" is fixed, I just have to get it uploaded. This was one of the first banners I made, so I'm not surprised about that little bug.

 

So hows the banner designing going everyone? Has anyone finished yet?

Also,

I'm assuming each person can submit several banners if they want?
I have a couple different ideas.
