Jay Laga'aia: Celebrity Host for Celebration IV

Actor, musician, and stage performer extraordinaire, Jay Laga'aia will host the celebrity stage in the Concourse Ballroom at Star Wars Celebration IV this coming May in Los Angeles.
Laga'aia delighted audiences at Celebration III as host of the celebrity stage in the Sagamore Ballroom, bringing out the best in both his guests and his audience, and occasionally picking up his guitar and entertaining all with his spectacular singing voice.

From Friday May 25 through Monday May 28, Laga'aia will welcome stars from the casts and crews of the entire 30 years of the Star Wars film saga. Star Wars fans attending Laga'aia's shows during Celebration will take home long-lasting memories. Fans and guests find Laga'aia warm, engaging, vibrant, and always entertaining.

Fans know Laga'aia as Captain Typho, Padmé Amidala's head of security in Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith. In addition to his Star Wars roles the actor has a distinguished and busy career, starring in numerous productions on both stage and screen.

From 2003 to 2005 Laga'aia performed the role of Mufasa in The Lion King on stage in Sydney, Australia, a part that was an excellent showcase for his vocal talent. Other notable roles among his many stage performances include one of the two leads in Athol Fugard's The Island, Wesley in Ladies Night, Judas and Simon in Jesus Christ Superstar, and Eddie and Dr. Scott in The New Rocky Horror Picture Show.

Laga'aia's long television career spans show host duties to leading roles. Prominent characters are Tommy in the series Water Rats (1995 -- 1999), and the leading part of David Silesi in Screenworks Ltd. Street Legal (1998 -2003). Fans of Xena: Warrior Princess know him as the ruthless warlord Draco, who made regular appearances on the television show.

Build Your Own Ewok Tree at Celebration IV!

Frank D'Iorio, the master diorama builder behind the fantastic fan-built dioramas at Celebration II and Celebration III, is returning for yet another Celebration. And this time he's bringing the Ewoks with him!

Especially for Star Wars Celebration IV, slated for May 24-28 in the Los Angeles Convention Center, D'Iorio is planning to bring the forest moon of Endor to life in diorama form on the floor of the Fan Fair Hall. D'Iorio sets the stage in the Diorama building area, and then adults and kids alike can come and build a portion of the scene -- free of charge -- which takes shape as one huge diorama over the course of the weekend.

"It's all very exciting to be returning to another Celebration, especially for the 30th anniversary," says D'Iorio. "This time we are returning to basics that made the Celebration II workshop so much fun -- cardboard, glue and paints. Oh, and some Ewok huts thrown into the mix."

Attendees who have been to D'Iorio's building areas agree that one of the best parts of building a diorama at Celebration is getting to take their portion home on the last day of the show. This year, fans will be building trees and tree houses on Endor, and will be in for another Endor-specific treat -- "live" speeder bike chases through the trees of the diorama.

"Fans will have a chance to build a small, medium, or large tree," says D'Iorio. "They can also build bridges and Ewok huts. With the biggest floor space of all the workshops so far we will be making the largest Endor diorama ever created, at approximately 32 x 15 feet."

D'Iorio works on visual effects at Lucasfilm's Industrial Light & Magic. The artist describes working for ILM as a "dream come true." Fans visiting the diorama building area could be chosen at random to take home crew and other exclusive Lucasfilm collectibles that D'Iorio will take to the show.

In order to have enough action figures to build the diorama, especially for kids who might be at the show with no action figures of their own, D'Iorio set up a "figure fund" for donations.

"Fans can send a figure, or vehicle, something from Hasbro that was seen in Return of the Jedi Endor locations. These toys will be used to populate the diorama, as well as become free giveaways to each builder along with their tree creation," says D'Iorio.

D'Iorio has also provided a great photo series on his website to help fans get ready for what they will be doing at the Celebration IV Diorama "Ewok Landscaping" Workshop.

"Builders get to bring home their creations after the show is over," concludes D'Iorio. "Perhaps they will be inspired and continue their forest constructions in their living rooms!"

Official Anouncement About the Hotel Room we are staying in

The money for the room needs to be paid in full by all members who are going, from the Idaho Area.

This way there will be no confusion on my part what is owed and what is not.

Ben from chicago may still join us if he does he will pay when he arives in chicago if he don't then there is no worries about the funds for the room since they will have been paid.

"Seth MacFarlane, the creator and executive producer of the Fox hit animated series, "Family Guy," is scheduled to appear at Star Wars Celebration IV at the Los Angeles Convention Center. MacFarlane, recognized as one of the youngest artists ever to create a television series, also voices many of the show's most beloved characters, including Peter, Stewie, Quagmire, and Brian.

This fall, MacFarlane and Fox will air a special one hour "Family Guy" episode that's a tribute to the Star Wars Saga as unique as only MacFarlane and his talented team of writers can make it. Fans at Celebration IV will be treated to a first look at parts of the episode, called Blue Harvest, and will have the opportunity to hear about it from MacFarlane and members of his team."
