A&A The Official Chuck Wendig Q&A Thread - Chuck's Reponses Posted for 1st Round! (Aftermath Spoilers)

I'm interested in his vision of the Emperor's courtiers. The one we've had, Yupe Tashu, was obviously not the sharpest knife in the drawer, and he was merely a cultist without actual mastery of the Force. But are there still Dark Side Adepts within the Emperor's inner circle?

 

- Is Tashu one of the advisors who we see in ROTJ?
- Were you told to include the Acylotes of the Beyond or Tashu's "source of the dark side" speculation?

 

He already answered that on twitter with a strenuous "mayhaps".

Though I really enjoyed reading Aftermath (great Alderaanian Frigate reference btw), one thing I did feel was that the Empire was a little underwhelming with only one Super Star Destroyer left. Related to that:

- Was the military strength, and the general state, of the Empire post-Endor something that was decided on before you starting writing the novel, or were you given some amount of free reign?

- Can you provide any more details or thoughts on how much of the Imperial armed forces were destroyed, defected to the New Republic, were confiscated by new found Imperial warlords, or fell into the hands of local sector/planetary forces, post-Endor?

- Mon Mothma mentions the possibility of training up local planetary forces, as sort of a replacement to maintaining a large standing New Republic military force. Do you foresee the local sector and planetary military forces becoming more prominent in the new canon, as they were from time to time in the old Legends universe?

Would you like to write more SW novels after the Aftermath Trilogy? Perhaps a novel or a trilogy set between ROTJ & TFA featuring the OT3 Luke,Han and Leia? Or an OT3 novel that leads into TFA?

Do you have titles for the other two books in the Aftermath Trilogy?

 

How seriously should we treat the claim that Palpatine believed the dark side had a physical source, somewhere beyond the known galaxy?

How much inspiration did you get from the "old" post-ROTJ EU? What are his favorite Star Wars books/authors from this era?

Does the Empire discriminate against same-sex relationships, or have they moved beyond such bigotry already in a galaxy far, far away?

 

Will Tashu have a larger role to play in the resurgence of the Dark Side?

Hey Mr Wendig. I really enjoyed your book, to me it felt like a proper novel, rather than an episode of a larger whole. Like, this could almost be someones first entry to Star Wars - statistically, that's got to be true right? Maybe? In any case, I was wondering were the interludes your idea, or where they mandated by the Story Group? And also, did you get to read The Force Awakens script before writing? Or are you looking forward to having your mind blown like the rest of us? Anyway, thanks for writing the book, I can't wait to read the next 2.

 

We do need a canon C'Baoth, though. I, for one, request it.

 

If there is anything that I think Zhan really should not have done is C'baoth.
