Drinking an Ommegang Take the Black stout. Not bad, perhaps I have been spoiled with all of the Cigar City stouts. I don't watch the show, so the novelty isn't there for me.

Finished the night with a couple of glasses of Angry Orchard Strawman and one of my favorites, Rodenbach :)

    Ohhh, I want!

Recently had Brasserie Dieu du Ciel's Route des epices (rye beer brewed with peppercorns) and I was blown away. I was worried the spice would be too subtle, but you definitely pick up on the pepper. So, so good...one of the most interesting beers I've ever tried.

I have had a couple of peppered beers. I dig it.

I'll be visiting Cigar City Brewing and the Cigar City Brewpub tomorrow. I'll be sure to post my findings.

I need to get over my anxiety over buying beer packs that are more than $7.99. I need to stop getting Bud Light Lime.

Just arrived at the Cigar City Tasting Room. Got a flight with Sugar Plum, Dubbel Dare, Hornswaggle Red on Nitro and Warmer Winter Winter Warmer.

Also grabbed a glass of the New Belgium/Ccb Lips of Faith Collaboration.

Off to the Ccb Brew pub then a quick stop at Cycle Brewing!

    Cigar City Illuminating the Path

Smells super boozy, but it's actually well hidden. Dark fruits, chocolate, cane sugar. Pinot Noir barrels. Nice.[IMG]

Picked up a bottle of Central Waters Space Ghost. A stout made with chili peppers. Got a bit of a kick, but sooo good.

Try to find a nice wheat or wit beer. They are easy to drink and won't turn you off while your palate is getting used to more flavorful beer. One of my favorites is Hoegarrden, a nice Belgian Wit that is easily available.
I would avoid IPA's, the hop bitterness may turn you off until you get your feet wet. And unless you really like coffee and chocolate, I wouldn't get a stout. But if you do maybe pick one up. Not guinness and nothing imperial.....yet.

Agree with Tony. Perhaps where you go they can help you. I've talk to the guys at the Discount Liquor I go to and they've helped me try things based on beers I've enjoyed. m Now I've broadened by horizons though and try things just for the helluva it.

I need a break from Guinness, and yeah, IPA's are very bitter. I do love coffee and chocolate though!

Oh definitely Milk Stout Nitro! It's soooo delicious. Or if you can get your hands on it, Founders Breakfast Stout. It's one of the greatest stouts EVER.

Also, my former boss sent me a pack of Great Lakes Nosferatu that I finally received this week...and heaven. I've missed it so much.

It's the weekend and that means beer! :p

Tonight's choice is Atwater Brewery Decedent Dark Chocolate Ale. Lovely chocolatey flavor.

If you get the chance to try Goose Island's Bourbon County Brand Coffee Stout, please do. This beer absolutely blew me away, probably the best beer I've ever had the pleasure of drinking. The smell almost reminded me of chocolate/coffee ice cream and I can't even begin to describe the taste in a way that would honor this beer. I probably sound a little crazy right now, but it blew my mind. My roommate and I also have a bottle of the Bourbon County Barleywine to share, which I can't wait to open!
