Yes I am sure you've not had Augustiner, as it's not exported and even in Germany, it's tough to get outside of Bayern.

Had some really good beers last night at the Loyal Legion. Two really great Berliner Weisse beers, two German Oktoberfest beers, including one I've never had before. Plus an IPA that had nice flavor but too much bitterness for me.

picked this effort up today. never seen a pumpkin beer before, we're not big into them as food in the UK, so i don't even know what pumpkin tastes like, this is just a halloween novelty beer . it has a sweet aftertaste, i don't think i could drink more than one.

Spoiled myself with Ohio beer while I was home over the last week! Went to Great Lakes and got a flight which included Imperial Dortmunder, which was interesting because I've never had (or seen) and imperial lager, and the Cleveliner Weisse, which I loooooved and wish they sold outside of the brewery. Also got my usual Nosferatu because 'tis the season and tried some different beers from Brew Kettle (their new location is opening in my home town and should be open for business when I'm back in December)!

I admit to being largely clueless as to breweries that might be actually near where I live, though. I do not think of LA as a big beer capital. Especially since there's a decades long war on carbs. But Boulevard I'm just spoiled with, since it's so good but so conveniently right there in KC that I never bother to visit when there.

I've done the Boulevard tour. It's worth your time.

blackout - I miss Imperial Dortmunder. God, that's a great beer. I need to visit home.

I got my mom hooked on the OG Dortmunder and she's generally a Coors Light drinker haha. It felt like a small victory for me.

I also forgot to mention that The Brew Kettle is doing a few beers exclusively for Cedar Point -- Rougabrew (a Helles lager), Slaughterhouse Red, and Frontier Trail Pale Ale -- so I of course had to get one while I was there. Couldn't find the others, but Rougabrew was surprisingly good. Not my usual style, but lots of flavor and very drinkable.

Boulevard is awesome. L.A. has no real good beer that I am aware of. San Diego and SF have amazing breweries all around them.

Mrs. Inty took me out to the Colorado Keg house for my birthday last night. It's a favorite of mine, as it has about 80 Colorado Craft Beers on tap, and just rotates through them. I had ... well, a few. My three favorites were: Sanitas Autumn Quad by Sanitas Brewing in Boulder, Salted Carmel Apple Tart by Wynkoop's, and Imperial Pumpkin by Station 26 in Denver. I just missed out on being able to try the Hatch Chile Ale, as they had just run out.

The Imperial Pumpkin prompted the following quote (by me): "I like this beer. It tastes like a pumpkin pie got drunk"

All three of those sound divine. I'm a little bit (lot a bit) jealous. Happy belated, Inty! Sounds like you had a great night :)

I went to my first brewery a month ago and ordered their local IPA. Tasted like soap. Horrible.

What was the brewery? I feel like IPAs are a style that take some getting used to. I hated them when I first started drinking beer but gradually came around, especially after having Bells Two Hearted Ale.

Stopped by the bar I work at last night to pick up some bottles for this weekend. Ended up with an assortment of IPAs including Maine Lunch, a small batch made tart cherry cider, aaaaand was surprised to find Hill Farmstead Harlan on tap and Grimm Double Negative. I love that place.

Yeah IPAs are not for beer beginners.
