Wash, DC ~The ***OFFICIAL*** DC:GS 1-Year Anni. Picnic: Sept. 13th, 12:30 PM at Lake Accotink~

I honestly don't remember choosing that date at the meeting. but if it doesn't run into the evening, I might be able to go.

 

Well we chose it 'tentatively'. I remember Sha marking it in her calendar. But that doesn't mean we'll actually have it on that day. The way things go around here, we'll probably have it next summer.

 

Right now, the 13th is fine with me. It will be weather-dependant with regards to Romeo attending.

If we've picked a date, even a tentative one, we should stick to it as close as possible. Otherwise like Val said, we'll end up holding the picnic next year. Of course, we've also re-scheduled Busch Gardens 3 times now and still don't have a final date.

It makes it hard for us to recruit people when we pick dates at the last possible second.

 

I think the 13th is ok with me too. For now.....

 

Bumping this in hopes of provoking discussion. We have a when but we need a where.

It would be nice to do it on the mall but a) they don't allow cook-outs and b) there is no cover incase it rains. So we are looking for other options, both in DC and out.

Ok, we've determined no grills on the Mall. Are we set on DC? How about Arlington/Alexandria? Do we require metro accessibility? Thoughts? I know a few places in Arlington that might work out. And there's a park near my new place but I haven't explored it yet.

I don't think we have to do it in DC. Metro accessiblity would be nice but I don't think it's an absolute necessity. What is necessary is some sort of covering incase it rains.

I'm not even sure how many people can make it at this point... ?

 

Yeah, we barely have 2 weeks to completely plan a picnic at a location we don't have yet. Not good.

I'm still coming and Romeo is making his GS debut appearance

 

Ok, then, let's get a head count of who can come, and I'll work on a place. With a cover. And a grill.

Yeah, it's a little late to plan, but better late than never, right? I just couldn't concentrate on this and D*C at the same time.

We still do not have a location and as Liz said, we have 6 days left. Who's going to do this?

Also, seeing as we've waited till now for planning, we're going to have to have a pot-luck picnic. So everyone should plan on bringing something. Please post what your bringing, so we can avoid excess coke bottles from showing up.

Oh and since we're celebrating our 1-year anniversary. We need a cake! So Liz and Val need to get together and pull some money for a cake.

I'll bring a supply of burgers, pending we have a place to bbq.

Anything else we need to discuss?

 

well we can use money from the treasury if that's ok with everyone else.

 

Oh, excuse me thats what I was implying, to use GS funds to get a cake. We can individually take care of the rest.

Anyways, I can't make the 13th, I'm playing rugby in North Carolina. Seeing its as far away as it is, we're staying there over night.

Well, this is what I get for not looking at this thread more often. I didn't even realize the date had been chosen.
I won't be able to make it this Saturday, I have to work. But I WILL see everyone on the 20th for Ren Fest!
