    After rummaging through 2 boxes of old VHS tapes, I found that old Christmas present of mine from years ago:

    [image=http://img835.imageshack.us/img835/6216/quaketape.jpg]

    I popped into my VCR (yes, I still have one of those), and to my amazement, the video still is watchable...............sort of. :p

    I still hold that people don't immediately register that Turkey is a country and not a food.

    But yes. Big earthquake in Turkey, complicated by the time of year making everyone without a home really cold now. For some reason not really hitting the big news circuits like other earthquakes.

    The title originally had an asterisk in it. See the first post.

    This must be how zac feels when we're all ignoring his earthquake devastated country.

    Different island. Hobbiton is up in the North Island near Matamata, Christchurch is down on the South Island. So technically, is Narnia okay? :p

    Not nice. That one started out slow and built up and I thought "**** this is it".

    Just had just sat down to enjoy a work Christmas lunch too. Everything smashed up, ceiling almost caved in.

    Yep, solid as a rock, thanks. She moves about a hell of a lot though, probably helps with keeping it together.

    Funny though, I was sitting here then suddenly realised my PS3 was missing. It had slid off the desk during the 6.0 quake and fell down the back. Luckily it still works.

    So, like in June we have a sudden and violent shake in the high fives, followed by a bigger one around six about 90 minutes later, and during similar times of the day. At this point any large earthquake now feels like a teaser of what's to come. IT can't be normal for it to happen so many times in the same place in such a short time.

    So almost 3 months without a scary shake. I think this is a new record.

    As for the city... well, just about every tall building is being pulled down, and both cathedrals are pretty much gone. I think we'll have one or two skyscrapers left when this is all done. Still life goes on, they've finally got around to flattening the bumps and sink holes on our street. Probably one of thousands.
