    Welcome to the Offical Fan Art Challenge! Each month, a single subject or category from the Star Wars universe will be chosen for artists of all skill levels to interpret. A wide range of media will be accepted including, but not limited to, graphite/ink drawings, paintings, photo-manips, digitial paintings/drawings, collages and posters. It's really whatever you're inspired to do. Be creative! If the subject is a TIE Fighter, don't just draw a TIE Fighter, try to incorporate it into a scene that's interesting. Or perhaps you would rather take the Alliance's view on the TIE. The possibilities are endless!

    *NEW*
    As an extra twist, the Challenge will now be considered as a contest or a game. At the end of each quarter(Fall;September-November, Winter;December-February, Spring;March-May, Summer;June-August), all pieces of artwork submitted during that particular time period will be up for nomination for the "Art Challenge Fan Favorite Award." If your artwork makes it through the nomination process and wins the final vote, you will be awarded colors of your choosing and a title for a week to sport around the entire JC. Good luck to all participants!

    Past Winners:

    1. Fall 2006 - academygrad88; Boba Fett and Family
    2. Winter 2007 - DarthMikus; Quinlan Vos
    3. Spring 2007 - BIEREN; Darth Vader
    4. Summer 2007 - Basement24; Humiliation of Defeat
    5. Fall 2007 - ART2-D2; Artoo on Halloween
    6. Winter 2008 - Ty_Ordell; Princess Leia
    7. Spring 2008 - ART2-D2; Battle Droid
    8. Summer 2008 - COULD BE YOU!

    Nicely done, everyone! Keep up the great work!

    If anyone has any ideas for future challenges, please send me a line. It feels as if the pool is becoming a bit stagnant and I want to make sure to keep it fresh. So, if you have any ideas, please let me know. :)

    That is a matter of opinion. I'm not going to hijack this thread but it wasn't meant to be crude. It was meant to be funny. I'm sorry you took it personally.

    Minor characters is a good idea.
    How about KOTOR?
    And I still like women of Star Wars.

    For some daft reason R2 is always followed by a bunch of folks.

    It is either this golden rod here who is also on the 6th and 7th page of my SW children' s book:

    [image=http://i108.photobucket.com/albums/n2/AzureAngel2_2006/SW%20pictures/Page6.jpg]

    [image=http://i108.photobucket.com/albums/n2/AzureAngel2_2006/SW%20pictures/Page7.jpg]

    Or a bunch of different people shows up, keen on being in the frame with him.

    [image=http://i108.photobucket.com/albums/n2/AzureAngel2_2006/SW%20pictures/Scannen0002-2.jpg]

    But I promise I try to catch him alone this summer somehow.

    By the way is it too late to send stuff in for June? I had to wait until summer holidays started in the Netherlands and I was not longer in charge of about 75 kiddos.

    Thanks for all the suggestions, everyone! :)

    I do like the idea about the "women of Star Wars" and the more minor characters. I want to continue to do something that interests everyone and will continue to bring people in. Right now, things seems stale around here and maybe, just maybe, it's time for another change. That's why this month(July), I'm going to try and just do the challenge with a single subject. I think there's too many choices offered now and ideas become scarce with only a few rotations, which is happening now. So, does this sound like a plan for everyone for the month of July? If this works out, I will continue to do this for future challenges.

    Also, with recent discussion in Comms concerning stickies, I may just go ahead and "de-stickify" this thread and let it float like other regular threads. Thoughts?

    As for being too late to participate in the June challenge, if the categories are still there, it's never too late. :)

    I know I don't usually participate in this thread (or the forum in general) but I just wanted to pop in here to say I think making this a non-sticky thread is a good idea, as stickys are often forgotten.

    Keep up the good work guys! I love coming here to see what you guys come up with. :)

    Even though I don't always get a chance to post for the difrent challenges doe to business, I personally like having the thread stickie. I don't have to search for it, it'a always in the same place. But this is just my opion. you must do what you think is best for the thread.

    Thanks for the feedback, everyone! It's much appreciated! :)

    I think along with the new, single category for this month, I'm gonna take the experiment even further and see how the thread does for the month of July without being a sticky. If it falls to the bottom and no one posts, I will re-sticky it for the month of August. I believe there's pros and cons on both sides and this seems like a healthy middle ground for the time being.

    I have a quick question. For the challenges, is it just traditional artwork, or is graphic design work allowed as well? I'm still new on this side of the boards, and was thinking about entering, but most of what I do anymore is in Photoshop. Thanks!

    Here's a Padme drawing I just did for this month's contest- started it late last night. Had a lot of fun - textured paper is SO great to use with bringing out highlights!

    AAAAHHH!! I had to continue - I was on a roll!! Here's one of Leia I just did tonight!! SO happy with it!!

    Miraluka

    I've always liked the Miraluka race ever since I played KOTOR II. This isn't a specific woman of Star Wars, but I think that's all right.

    Padme Amidala Naberrie

    Anakin is in the picture, too, but for the purposes of the contest, the focus is on Padme. I think that is the case anyway, actually...

    Gosh, everyone's entries look sooo good. Hooray for the women of Star Wars!

    I just dropped by to suggest the 'Legacy comics' as another topic. There's next to no fanart of Legacy *sniff* And I think the comics have something for all the fan artists here; jedi and sith, ships, Imperial Knights, aliens, twileks (lookin' at you, Gio! ;))

    I think having more general themes like the women of star wars is a great idea. It's way more open to interpretation that set topics, and would probably get more people involved.
