brinkster was down this morning when I went to check it and it looks like (all php files are no longer accepted) all of my files were converted to php so I wouldn't have to deal with those nasty popup ads. I hope it doesn't stay this way for long, otherwise I am for sure moving to a domain.

Anybody know about Canaca.ca? It's very cheap, and it seems to provide a lot, but I'm wondering if there's a decent reason for the low cost. It's $3.95 for 5GB of space and 20GB of bandwidth. It seems a bit.. too cheap.

I'm looking for a decent amount of hosting, but unfortunately I'm unemployed right now so I can't afford a whole lot.

I've had a good experience so far with both 34sp and PTisp (in portuguese).

Repeating what I said on the Webmaster's Resource thread:

"Just droping advice for anyone here who might be thinking of getting hosting over at host.sk. Don't. The whole 29 dolars one-time-only thing seems really nice for a server with PHP and MySQL, but it's not.

I paid for it and about a month later I started getting porn popups on my site. Not only that, but sometimes people couldn't even enter the site at all, or if they entered a forum I had hosted there, there were so many database connection errors that they simply gave up on trying to get in."

My current host is with Intention.nl...can't say i can recommend them, it's a one man business, not working

I ordered a domain at arstrongnetworks.com and it tooks some time to get through, but it is now. Not sure about the recommendation.

I'm still looking for a hosting service. I rather have a Dutch one, but they have a tendacy to be more expensive

I'd like to have a domain one day. I've been looking at a lot of different sites, and figuring domain names (nothing with "digital" in the name though. It's used too often).

But I've heard a lot of good stuff about Netrillium

I bought my domain from www.easily.co.uk. It was nice and cheap (my .co.uk address was £9.99 including VAT for two years) the technical support has been great (queries answered within a couple of hours) and they include silent forwarding as part of the deal, unlike one place I investigated where you had to pay an additonal fee to access your control panel.

    Always read the fine print.

I host a site off pair.com - decent rates, excellent service. I don't use any kind of web builder - I'm all old-school and hand-code in Homesite or BBEdit, maybe Dreamweaver if I'm feeling lazy, then FTP the sites up. The only other software I use is Movable Type, for my weblog. It can be customized for any number of things if you get clever with it.

I was wandering if anyone can reccommend any good image hostings sites that pull down fan art and such? I want to move my fan art from brinkster and host them somewhere else. But nothing I have to download and custmize, or anything.

    Hi

I was wondering, does anyone know anything about Zesthost

They look reliable and they offer 5000MB and 50GB bandwidth for $80 a year or 1000MB 5GB bandwidth for $30 a year

But sometimes some things look too good to be true

Well, my domain is up for renewal. I currently use Netrllium, and am getting near my 100 MB limit. I looked at Siteflip, but their holes in the Policy and Services made me turn my head.

I'd like more space, and no less than 5 GB bandwidth. Unlimited (or a high number of) subdomains is critical, and I need unlimited MySQL databases. PHP/CGI/Perl standard. And a good number of pop3 email accounts. And forwarders. And CPanel.

    Any suggestions?

TFN uses IGN to host them. We have a contract.

The only problem with brinkster.com is that if you have a free website, you get ads either on the top or bottom. (It used to be that free accounts didn't have ads on them), and well, now, personally, I don't like they're new 'corperate look'. I don't like what brinkster.com has become.

I'll check out freewebs.com for my image hosting needs.

After evaluating many companies, ruling many out because of features or pricing, I have settled on http://VMC-Hosting.com . They're a new company, but the guy who runs it is friendly, active, and fast, plus they're quite inexpensive. I haven't found anything bad about them, and have found a few things good, for being a new company, I don't think that's too bad.

Well, I'm hoping I can beleive it :p

I've been in constant e-mail contact with the guy trying to get my domain moved over. My old host is either dragging their feet or really busy...

I don't dis-believe it ;) I just think its an awesome deal. Hosting packages appear to be coming down each month, which is great for the amateur webuser like myself.

Its almost about time I got around to making a constructive website. I have my own personal website with photos etc, but I was thinking of starting one that hosts short homemade movies.
